Im hoping someone can help me with this very stressful matter. I have been with my husband for 4 years, married for 2, with a 19 month old son. I have been faithful to my husband and have NEVER displayed any symptoms of an STD. I have been routinely tested for STD's and have always heard a negative result.
About 3 years ago my husband started to develop "water blisters" under the head of his penis, and on the shaft, that would come and go. They last for about a week or so and they go away. He told me that they get worse in the shower, and when they do pop, a clear fluid (like water) comes out. They eventually crust over and go away. He gets them every now and again. They mostly come when friction is involved. He has no pain with urination, no discharge, no pain anywhere else, only when the blister is present until it pops and goes away. He has no fever or any other typical symptom of Herpes.
I am so scared that this is Herpes. He has not been to a doctor for this problem yet, and I have been trying to get him to go since the problem surfaced. I just had a Herpes blood test on Tuesday 6/12, and I am anxiously awaiting my results. Like I said previously, I have NEVER had any sores, or symptoms of Herpes or any STD in my life. My OBGYN didn't think it was necessary to give me a Herpes blood test, considering I have never had any sores or symptoms, and it has been so long since my husband has had this problem. She felt if I had Herpes, the symptoms would have shown by now.
I know that Herpes can lay dormant in your body for years, and so on.....but still I have never had symptoms of anything. I have been tested for everything when I was pregnant for my son. Could this be some other logical explanation for what my husband is experiencing? I know that he needs to be checked out by a doctor, but I hope someone can help shed some light for me. Im going crazy!!!

STD are tricky. My older lady friend who married her husband when they were both in their 20's had only been sexual with him and no one else in her life. The husband died when she was in her early 70's. She's now in her mid 70's and her pap came back for HPV.
STD's can lay dormant in people for years. Her OBGYN said there is no telling how long she had it but said that the stress of the death probably lowered her immune system and activated the disease. Stress, poor diet, bad health gives strength to STD's to take over.

Yes, STD's can be very tricky which is horrible, but in my case im known as the STRESS QUEEN and still have not had symptoms. I literally worry about everything until im sick, and then when I find out everything is alright then I feel as though im free to stop worrying. Im like that with everything, and this is no exception! I just wanted to know if what I described with my husband sounds like Herpes? Im sure anything could sound like Herpes, and I know he needs to see a doctor...but im just looking for an opinion not a diagnosis :) Thanks for anyones help! :)

What I meant was you could have HPV or another STD and gave it to him. Unless you never had any sexual contact with another. You can have STD's or HPV even though you tested negative.
Same for your husband. Unless he never had any sexual contact with another he could have gotten and STD BEFORE you were married.
No test for any STD is 100% accurate. Some STDs don't show up right away. It could take an infection anywhere from a couple of days to a few years to show up in testing.
The latest 2007 STD news is half of the men and 75 percent of the women infected have no symptoms. You can test negative for STD's but still have it in your body. When people get an outbreak they automatically assume they caught it from the person they were last with. That just is not the case. One could have acquired the STD from a person years ago.
Lastly yes it sounds like an STD. That's does not mean he cheated on you. If his body is under stress, sickness, poor health etc thr STD can become active after years of being dormant.
