View Full Version : How to accurately measure body fat %?

Is there a way that I can measure bodyfat % accurately? When I was in University, playing varsity sports, they had a water tank that they would use to very accurately measure body fat %. However that is not an option for me now.

I have seen those electronic meters that you hold onto and it measures body fat % but those seem a little mickey-mousey. I have seen the fat calipers (skinfold caliper) but I don't know how accurate that is either.

Can anyone lend me a hand here and give me some ideas on what device to get so that I can accurately measure body fat %?

Thank you.

Calipers are probably your best "at home" bet. If nothing else, at least you will be better able to gauge progress and get a rough idea of bf% (fairly good accuracy, better than Tanita scales).

I've seen those calipers all the way from $6.50 on ebay to $130 on ebay again... what's the difference??? They all look about the same.
