Hi all! I've had so many health issues over the years that I don't know which one to begin with usually, but the current one for this week I've been dealing with is a questionable bipolar II diagnosis. I've tried Depakote, Lamictal, and Topamax and had to stop because I'm loaded with drug allergies, too, so mood stabilizers right now are out. Right now there is a crescent moon out and I have been tired and depressed all day long and this is not the first time this has happened. This usually happens once a month when the moon comes out and runs its course to the full moon and then I'm fine, almost the way I would get the blues at the time of my monthly cycle years ago. Is this considered a bipolar thing or hypomanic thing because I get agitated as well. Are there any ladies on the board that perhaps this has happened to as well? I keep thinking its a leftover hormonal thing, but when you ask a doctor they have no clue! Thanks so much--Hopeto--

That is a really good question and I have often wondered the same thing. I know the full moon are at least by it I usually a full blown manic lunatic. I always wondered but thought I might be reading too much in the mix. Usually the new moon starts more of the depressive phase and then slowly swings up.

Hi Emerald and JG--Thanks for your posts. I stopped the Topamax that I was taking a couple of weeks ago because of the side effects (depression, nausea) and now I'm wondering if it might be that, too. I don't know--I don't get it--for years I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and then all of a sudden 10 years ago when I was having mood swings prior to my hysterectomy that I was bipolar II along with it. Now here it is 10 years later and I still have the mood swings and wonder if all I need is soy? Oh well--I'll check with the doc on Friday. Thanks so much!! Hopeto--

absolutely.....my ex-husband was bi-polar and I would check the calendar to know when he was about to become abusive. A couple days before and up to a new moon he would become a complete bass-turd and around the full moon he would become depressed. It was a pattern that I discovered and pointed out to him and he realized it too.

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!! I've always felt even more hyper and high strung than I already am. I am a nurse on a locked behavioral unit and there's no question that the full moon has an effect on ALL people (I also worked in a nursing home and it was the same thing). At work and for myself, I've noticed most of the effect seems to be a few days before and a few days after. We've also noticed at work the new moon very often has the same, if not worse effect, as the full moon. I always say to people who don't believe in it, how can the moon have such a big effect on a huge body of water as the ocean and have no effect on people?? It is also a blue moon this month.....beware to the non believers:eek:. :)

Well, the full moon is tomorrow night! At work today some of the patients were a little off. I can definitely say that I was VERY wacky, silly, jumping around like a complete spaz and a half:dizzy: ! Then after work I completely flipped out on my bf like crazy:eek: ! Yup, that full moon sure has a BIG effect on me.
