Hello all,:)
I've been suffering from PTSD for almost 6yrs now following a bridge collapse. My car fell 80 ft into the water, as did 8 other cars. There were two survivors besides me, and 8 who died, 6 of whom I knew (small town). It was about 6 months before PTSD set in. I did seek counseling and was on anti-depressants but I don't believe the counseling I received was adequate as I am still having problems. Since then, I have developed a chronic bladder pain condition which I attribute to the seat belt (which saved my life:angel: )and almost died following one of my diagnostic day surgeries, so now have severe doctor anxiety, not only because of the post-surgery complications but also because of the year long diagnosis process, with every doctor telling me my pain and other symptoms were all in my head. Last summer my ex-fiance tried to kill me:dizzy: when I returned from an annual trip to visit a girl friend in Mexico, a trip I've been making for over 10 yrs, long before he came into my life. I have been seeing a therapist for the past year, a dr of psychology, and am taking antidepressant and anti-anxiety meds in addition to multiple other medications to treat my bladder pain condition. So, that's my story, I'm still struggling with PTSD and don't know where to go from here. Have had bad experiences with psychiatrists. PTSD and my pain condition are affecting my work, thank goodness I'm a teacher and off for the summer now but am not finding anything enjoyable about it so far. If you read all this, thanks for listening. I am open to any suggestions, responses, advice. TIA:)

HI Bri,

Welcome to the board. No private messages. I would suggest that you read the rules, as the Mods are Very good at their jobs.

Looks like you have had a few close calls in your life. I HATE BRIDGES!!!! Although I have been able to get across them, I detest them. I hope that the EX is in jail too. He deserves a nice cell for that one.

Bri,

You will find tons of people here willing to help, and welcome you. So as I often say...Grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair and stay awhile........

Hi SId
Thanks for the reply. Yes, after looking thru thngs inside and out, I pretty much figured that pms aren't part of this board. I'll most likely stick around... this board is pretty well-rounded Thanks for the tip, though, and from what I've seen so far, the mods are doing a fantastic job.
Well, the ex got deferred adjudication for 2 yrs, plus a fine, commnity service, and what I HOPE is an anger managemet class. He moved out of state. haha, Texas isn't big enough for the 2 of us, I guess, and hasn't bothered me, have 2 yr restraining order. Regardless of what he did to me, it was his first (reported)offense and he has an 11 yr old daughter so I'd much rather him be out of jail and being productive, as example for his kids.
Back to bridges, though, yes I hate them but will do them ,although I have been known to plan my roadtrips to avoid them, much to the dismay, if I have passengers!:Just thiking of THEIR safe, you know :)
