I've had a fatigue (24/7) now for over 1.5 years. I never wake up refreshed and can always sleep all day long. No matter how much sleep I get (5-14hours).

I've had every test done under the sun, including a sleep study. I didn't sleep well there because of all the wires though. The woman @ the study said she didn't see anything wrong. I also sleep on my side or stomach and don't snore, however my wife says that I wake up constantly throughout the night shouting in my sleeping, speaking in different languages...LOL!!! I also find myself waking up a lot, but I'm never out of breath. I usually sweat a lot too, but I don't know if it's because of the room temp or not.

I did have Mono a while back when this started, but I'm wondering now if this could be a sleep disorder that is causing me to be like this. My Acid reflux got really bad when this got worse. I always wake up stiff and exhausted.

Any ideas? I tried Ambient, but only for a week.

This is normally an indicator that you are not entering the 4th and 5th stages of sleep. These allow for mind and body regeneration and repair. Do you remember dreaming? If you do not you are not hitting the third level of sleep as well..

I've had every test done under the sun, including a sleep study. I didn't sleep well there because of all the wires though. The woman @ the study said she didn't see anything wrong.

Was the study performed by ABSM certified doctors? Did they have at least six hours of sleep data? A minimum of six hours of sleep data is require for any diagnosis to be made.

I also sleep on my side or stomach and don't snore, however my wife says that I wake up constantly throughout the night shouting in my sleeping, speaking in different languages...LOL!!! Sleeping on your side is good look at my sleep hygiene posts for the best way to sleep. The fact you are talkingout in you sleep as you do is a sign of a sleep disorde.. not sure of the formal name.. will ask my ABSM next time I check in. Do you or a friend have a video camera? Can you record yourself visually with audio? It could be helpful in getting a diagnosis.

Ah, Mono.. how are your tonsils, enlarged? Lymph nodes swollen all the time. Mono in college made my sleep apnea cross from the mild to severe stage.. took a tonsillectomy and adnoidectomy to get me back to a mild sleep apnea state.. and I was not a big snorer. Snoring is not a requirement for a sleep apnea.. it is an indicator though.

Any ideas? I tried Ambient, but only for a week.
If you have a sleep disorder the sleeping pills may make matters worse. I strongly suggest you consult and ENT ABSM certified MD (because of your mono) or a neurologist ABSM MD (because of the night talking).

Respectfully,
MG

Went to my handy reference on sleep disorders and found sleep talking readily as a side component to sleep walking or somnambulism. The listed symptoms to somnambulism are as follows:
* eyes open during sleep
* may have blank facial expression
* may sit up and appear awake during sleep (my husband would do this and tell me senseless things)
* walking during sleep (actually got outside and ran about in the horse pasture on night scared my parents and me half to death)
* other detailed activity during sleep, any sort (I was famous for vacuuming, washing dishes, and laundry)
* no recall of the event upon awaking (didn't believe anyone until they filmed me vacuuming the house)
* confusion, disorientation on awakening
* sleep talking is incomprehensible and non-purposeful (this is what your wife is describing I am sure of it)

Sleep activity such as talking and walking in your sleep can be signs of other sleep disorders. My sleep walking stopped when I recieved treatment for my sleep apnea. My husbands sleep talking stopped when he got treatment for his hypopnea based sleep apnea.

Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
MG

Thanks for the data and the advice. I'll look into that kind of doctor.

My test was done at a hospitals sleep center. There were so many damn wires, I couldn't fall asleep. I remember tossing and turning, then them coming in around 5:00am. I'm sure it wasn't enough time for the data.

My wife also says that I make moves on her during my sleep, talking a lot, speaking in different languages. I do dream a lot. I usually remember my dreams too.

My tonsils aren't enlarged and my lymphnodes aren't anymore either.

Thank you again for all your help!!!

I got my results back from the center. I think I'm going to go to another sleep center local to me and have them run the tests again, or atleast consult with them.

My question is, this has been happening since living on my own. I have always had troubles falling asleep and staying a sleep. Is it possible that this is just axiety while sleeping? I've been on 3 different types of anxiety meds, and they did nothing for me. Has anyone in this situation tried Lunesta?

Let's say that this is a sleep disorder. How long would it take on sleeping meds to help my issue? According to my sleep study, I don't have an apena and I'm just wondering if all the tossing and turning is because I can't really sleep do to axiety.

I was just wondering if anyone in here has had any luck with this

I had a strange experience with hypersomnia (which seems to be what you're describing... sleeping too much and being constantly tired, right?).

Over the last few years, my sleep cycle has been unpredictable, and I usually slept too much. But last month I was put on a low dose of Ritalin, to see whether it would help my inattentive ADHD; and my sleep cycle began to right itself. Now I sleep only 7-10 hours a night, instead of 12-14, and three quarters of that sleep is at night, when it should be.

Apparently, finding a way to stay up during the day did much more for my sleep cycle than forcing myself to sleep at night.

I later found out that Ritalin is an approved treatment for narcolepsy--a sleep disorder in which people suffer unexpected "sleep attacks" during the day.
