Recently, my grand dad (aged 80) had an MRI of brain and i would be glad if you could interpret the report. The details and findings of the test are mentioned below:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MRI of brain was performed with T1,T2 and FLAIR technique.Images were obtained in axial, sagittal and coronal planes.
T2 & FLAIR heterogeneous hyperintensity noted in right medial temporal, occipital lobe and right thalamus.Few hyperintensities noted in right occipital lobe on T1 images- Features s/o hemorrhagic infarct in right PCA territory.
T1 hypointense and T2 hyperintensity noted in left parietal subcortical region left caudate nucleus & bilateral frontal periventricular white matter- s/o acute infarcts.
IMPRESSION:
Hemorrhagic infarct in right PCA territory.
Acute infarcts in right thalamus, left parietal lobe with lacunar infarcts in bilateral frontal periventricular white matterand left caudate nucleus.
Chronic infarcts in left frontal lobe, bilateral cerebellar hemispheres.
Cerebral atrophy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It would be very kind of you if you could explain the report in a layman's language elucidating the consequences and the precautions which must be observed.
