my pdoc increased my depakote to 1250mg per day a week ago, since then i have had two nose bleeds. is this something to worry about? should i call him about this or wait till i see him in a couple more weeks? besides the depakote i take 100mg lamictal and 150mg wellbutrin. i'd really like some feedback because i don't want to be jumping the gun by calling my pdoc for nothing.
thanks

I have never had a nose blood with that particular med but I am also allergic to it. Just my darn luck! Though I think mentioning it to the pdoc is important. My question is do you have per chance high blood pressure. I know with my hubby his high blood pressure gives him nose bloods? Is the air severely dry for any reason like in the late fall he gets them sometimes too. Just a thought.

hi emeraldeyes114, yes i do have high blood pressure. do you think that this may be the reason for my nose bleeds? also the pollen count is very high right now and even though i am not allergic to it, i do have some irritants from it.
maybe i should wait and see what happens.

emeraldeyes114, when you said that i should mention it to my pdoc, did you mean that i should do it right away or, and i know your not a doc, but do you think thats its something that can wait a couple of weeks? please let me know what you think. i don't know if i should bother my pdoc for something as silly as a nosebleed.

Hi Harmony,
I would mention it to your doc. i know depakote affects the liver - I went through a period of bruising at the slightest thing and they were really worried doing blood tests every day - which suggests to me some sort of clotting issue with the blood to my un-trained medical mind! it did clear up but i do still bruise easily just not by walking - literally!
