This is sort of disgusting, but I simply CAN'T be the only person this happens to, so I'll go ahead...
I can't wear tampons for whatever annoying physical/emotional reason, so am stuck with stupid pads, none of which I find comfortable but that's beside the point.
My point is that no matter how long (from front to back of the underwear) the pad is, when I lie on my front/stomach, it (blood) sort of...ends up RIGHT at the top of the underwear, like almost on the seam, totally going past the pad. And if I lie on my back, it does exactly the same thing but way past the very back end of the pad, and again, right up to the top seam of the underwear! I guess it makes sense, you know, with gravity, etc, but does anyone else get this and how the hell do you avoid it?
I already avoid lying on my stomach or back for the first few days of my period, but sometimes I find it so uncomfortable having to lie only on my sides for fear of this happening!

The best suggestion i can offer is trying a variety of brands to find one with the strongest absorbancy. One other option, if you're open to it, would be to look into birth control. It may help lighten your flow... i know it helped mine.

Hi there,
I actually have the same problem. I flow very heavy due to fibroids. I use 2 overnight pads at once. Have one go up higher in the front and the other toward the back.
good luck

Have you ever tried Instead Soft Cups? They are sold in the pharmacy in the same aisle as the pads, they are usually on the top shelf. They are these... well, cups, made of a clear plastic type material, which you insert and can keep in for up to 10 hours! Possibly only about 5 hours on a really heavy flow day. But they're great! I found out about them recently, within the last several months, and i've been using them. They take some getting used to, and it's hard to take them out at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's great! You literally can't even feel that it's in there!
Check them out. I think the box comes with 14 of them in each.

Yep I know what you mean. I too have a fibroid. I can sleep on my side so that's not the problem. I end up with the mess running up my lower back while sitting. I too use the long thicker pads but I use a long thinner one up the back. That seems to help. When all this is over, I'm buying all new underwear.

YAY! I'm not alone! LOL. I don't even have fibroids and the periods aren't even particularly heavy at all, it's just that what blood there is, goes in the wrong directions!! It's not going to the front & back because it's "flooded" or anything (ew, ew, ew), it's just like, gravity or something. *shrug*
Thanks for the suggestions though. :) That cup thing looks interesting. I'm not sure how I'd go though, as I can't even use tampons. :(
Oh, and I've tried the pill twice over the years and it just does not work for me at ALL. Total PMS constantly for 6 months, spotting every single day for 6 months, etc. Not good. :(
