Woohoo! I'm almost finished! I have one more cycle, just 2 more treatments to go! I'm so happy. Treatment went well on tuesday. Haven't felt too sick or tired either so thats a bonus.
I'm a bit worried my next scan. It's 7 weeks after my treatments over and it just seems like a really long time to wait esp since my onc. said I'd definatly need a PET scan and theres only 1 machine in Scotland and thats in Aberdeen so who knows how long the waiting list will be for that!!!

Congratulations!!!!
I'm SO hoping for that day will come for me, also.
Until then, I'll be "riding on your coat-tails"....
I keep hoping this "journey" will step up a notch, but everything has to be done in a timely manner, doesn't it?
I'm happy, too, that you haven't felt ill throughout your last round. Reading that gives me hope that I might resume some normalcy at some time in the near future.
Good job! Keep those positive thoughts coming---and keep sharing.
It gives us all hope--for people that are just starting treatment.
:)
p.s. Was wondering---did you had a PET scan before, to help with your staging?
Hi Mada
Perfectly normal - the chemo drugs work their magic for approx 6 weeks - so your consultant's just waiting until they've finished!!

Hello Amanda
I can't believe how fast it all appears to have gone (maybe more for me than you!)
You are a clever and determined young woman who has her whole life a head of herxx
I wish you well on the last treatment, and will look forward to seeing you on this forum still!!
You have been a great support to me over the last few months, and I can only wish I have done the same.
lots of love to you my friend, Susie xx

Fairy you have been wonderful over these past few months! I just wish I could do more to help you finally get a dx! Of course I'll remain on this forum, everyone has helped me so much and i hope that i can help others.
Singer, nope only had a CT scan and i hate the machines. I get so claustrophobic. I hope PET scan machine is't as bad. I make the radiologist talk to me and i hum in my head and screw up my face and close my eyes. I really hate them. I haven't felt too ill at all with this last treatment so I'm hoping that the last 2 are the same!
Ails, I thought that the drugs only stayed in your body for 6-8 hours and the weeks between treatments were to let your body recover? I just thought it was the waiting lists on the NHS.
Hope everyone feeling okay today.

Hiya
My halfway scan was arranged over the phone for a couple of days later. Once you're in the system the consultants can get things moving very quickly! When I was in hospital xrays were arranged within hours (instead of waiting weeks) I guess they keep some appointments to one side for emergencies etc.
After I had my last treatment my consultant arranged the CT for 6 weeks later to ensure the drugs had done their work (to give a true picture) and explained that they would still be working for that length of time. I don't know whether this is the drugs still being in your system or the chain reaction that they set off is still in motion??
You're nearly there!! You must be sooo excited

This chemo stuff is kind of hard, isn't it? I've wanted to come online all day--but, haven't felt quite "up to snuff."
I thought I'd respond to you (Amanda) about the Pet Scan..
It's not claustrophobic at all. They have to inject you with radioactive particles (through an IV) and you sit and be still for awhile---then, after about an hour and a half you just lie still while this machine kind of hums around you...It's a very detailed test. Actually, this particular test is the one that gave me my staging---until then, they didn't know I had more lymph nodes swelling. I don't think they showed up on my CT scan...
I'm a bit claustrophobic, too, and the Pet scan didn't bother me at all.
I see my Radiologist tomorrow (Wed.) for a consultation. I guess I'm moving right along, too... I'm glad. I still would like to "fast forward" to the Fall! (would be near the end of my treatment)
Just thought I'd pop in for a quick note. :)

Hey, I saw my consultant today and she is extremely pleased with everything and told me that I'm doing better than she could have hoped for! That put me in a good mood for the rest of the day.
Only 19 days left!!!!!! I'm so excited! I never ever thought that i would be getting ready to celebrate finishing chemo, well at least not when i was 21! Looking back on the last few months everything seems so surreal. I honestly can't wait! I found out today that I have put on more than 2 and a half stone since february! Once I'm done with treatment I'm detoxing for two months.
Goodnight
Amanda
