I went to the doctor on Monday because I was really sick & I thought I might have a kidney infection since I had a uti with a fever, night sweats, not eating or drinking, nausea, headache, etc.

Well the doctor gave me a cup to pee in, and a prescription for Cipro. I finished the Cipro but nothing has changed. I still feel sick although I don't have a temp, but my back still hurts and when I pee it also hurts.

I went back today and I told her that I have been getting stomach cramps and I didn't think the Cipro was working. She told me she looked at my test results and that I have a UTI with pyelonephritis in one kidney, and sent me home with 4 more days of Cipro.

I'm really frustrated because the Cipro didn't work before, why would it work now? She said Cipro was the best choice but obviously not, my back pain feels worse than when this whole thing started.

The whole thing is, I had VUR and when I was 12 I had surgery so that my ureters were re implanted. Is it possible that it has come back? My next step is to go to the doctor and get a referral for a sonogram to make sure I don't have any damage.

What should I do if this Cipro doesn't work?
