Has anyone had serious side effects from Prometrium? My doctor has written me a script for it but I have some concerns with the side effects. I am experiencing irregular menstrual cycles. He tested my hormone levels and my estrogen is very high while my progesterone is real low. I also have ovarian cysts. He feels this med will help. Can anyone offer their opinion?

When I was prescribed Prometrium, I was told to take it only at night time. The drug made me VERY drowsy within an hour of taking it. That was really the only side effect that I noticed and it's the most common.

I took Prometrium for 10 days each month (I think, but it's been a while). I had mid-cycle bleeding that was not responding to any treatment.
The drug did not help so I stopped taking it. I did not notice any weight gain when I took it, but was only taking it a few days each month.

I just took prometrium for 10 days in order to get my period (i went off of the birth control pill in march and still no period). When should I get my period after i finish the 10 days of prometrium? Is it ten days after the last pill i take?
