Can anyone tell me what causes ones' eyelid to twitch? Mine has become a real problem over the past several weeks. The frequency and severity has increased and is extremely annoying and distracting. Can this cause headaches? I have heard this could be a symtom of eye strain, fatigue, or stress...anyone know about this??

Sorry, I forgot to ask, hope you do. Let me know. I walked in last night and he took me right away, that's a first in and out in under 10 mins. I also have Glacoma. Take care, Kim

Your twitching of the eye may be stress related. I worked in the optical field for 5 years. During this time I worked up through management. When working a lot, I started to have twitching around the eye, and it made me nervous. I immediately went to the optometrist next door. He said it was caused by stress. Nothing to really be alert about, but taking off work a few days might be helpful. I used to stress out when I worked retail. Becoming manager made this occur more. No more retail for me. I hope this helps. You may still want to check with your optometrist to be safe. Do this during your annual eye exam, which I hope you are doing. Also, in my opinion, go to see an optometrist(OD)for an eye exam, not an opthalmologist(MD), for you may see a tech he trained, which most likely has had no schooling, and you may receive a poor exam. If the OD feels you have a serious madical problem, then he will recommend you to an MD.

Hi, oh am I glad someone has done this topic... have had a twitch on my bottom lid of one eye for about 7 months now.. drives me crazy, been to opticians and she said the actual eye is fine apart from a small prescription.. that it can be due to stress and to come back in about a years time for another check up.. She did say that if the twitch gets bad then I can have injections (something like botox).
I have found tonic water alleviates problem, have also found that taken a vitamin B complex, magnesium and calcium also helps.
I try not to think abotu my twitch much, because the more you do the more you will find it will start.
Anyone get anymore idea's let me know.
