I currently have very annoying health problems and one of them is a visual symptom. I have a black fuzz or snow blizzard type effect in front of my eyes, and things seem to move ever so slightly. It is very annoying and I really would love to hear ANY ways of getting rid of it.
I went and saw a eye doctor and he didn't see any problems, not only that but a MRI didn't show anything either. Now I am at a loss. My other symptoms include dizziness, headaches and bad balance. All symptoms are constant but vary in severity.
It has been said by fellow net surfers that I might have either MS or a inner ear problem. If anyone out there has my symptoms and can advise me I would be extremely grateful.
Many thanks,
Jon (jon@jonread.com)

Jon,
How old are you, have you had previous eye problems, and did you see an Optometrist(OD) or Opthalmologist(MD)? I might be able to advise you.

Hi,
Thanks for replying. I am 22, and never had any previous eye problems EXCEPT for when I had a very nausius period with bad headaches for 3 days, and it made my eyesight dark, but that went away with some pills (Serc). I tried the same pills this time but it didn't help, but to be honest the eye effect is different then last time, but that is the only time I have had any problems.
I went and saw a Opthalmologist I think, I can't remember for sure but that sounds very familar, more so then the other one you mentioned. He shone a strong light in to my eyes and looked through to the back of my head supposedly. Very quick visit though.
Who is the other doctor and what does he do ? Do you think there is any hope for me ?
Many thanks, please reply if possible, or email.

Hi Jon,
I have pars planitis, which is a retinal disease. What pars is, is an inflammatory disease in the retina and it causes "snowbanking" or clusters of white blood cells in the back of the retina. Normally, when you have an injury, white blood cells rush to the injury to protect it. Somehow when you have pars planitis (inflammation in the pars plana) it thinks you have an injury and cells rush there and it gets inflammed. This causes a person to see floaters, cobwebs and other stuff too. I have headaches, but was told it was unrelated to my uveitis.
I'm sorry to go on, but perhaps you should see first a retina specialist (also an opthamologist) and maybe a neuro-opthamologist. Uveitis has been linked to Lyme disease, MS and other possible immunosupressive diseases. Going to the above mentioned doctors may help you rule out the chance for MS. THere's also some other areas to explore. Try doing some research on the net where you go to a medsearch engine and you enter your symptoms and out pops several possibilities. Do not self diagnose yourself though, this can be dangerous both physically and emotionally.
Overall, best advice is to see another doctor. Good luck to you and let us know what happens.

Are the vision symptoms constant and permanent or do they go away? If so, how long do they last?

Mitch's advice was very good but if nothing
shows up continue to investigate inner-ear problems or even migraines...since some
migraine headache sufferers experience a
variety of visual disturbances, nausea, etc.
To this end you might keep a log to see what
might trigger the episodes. Migraines can be
triggered by everything from emotional upsets, through food and drink reactions, to
the barometric pressure! I expect the MRI
would have detected if you had had a mini-stroke, but why don't you ask them about the
condition Mitch described? Warm thoughts to
you in UK! Keep the board informed?
