Folks,

Recently I upped my dosage of natural diuretics: celery seed and dandelion to be specific. While it seems to have decreased my BP, I have been having some unpleasant reactions the last few days...dizzyness, lightheadedness, PVCs.

Are these common side effects of regular med diuretics too? Just curious.

Any diuretic can cause those symptoms IF the diuretic cause lows serum sodium or low potassium. To a lesser degree, diuretics can affect magesium and calcium excretion.
And uric acid can build up, so gout becomes more of a risk causing finger and foot pain.

I recommed the Rx diuretics rather than the herbs for the simple reason that it is too difficult to regualte your dosage with a mixed bag of herbs...you never know how much you are getting.

I think the diuretics I take are "potassium sparing" (celery seed, dandelion, apple cider vinegar) but I am not 100% certain. I am hoping to avoid the RX ones for now as the side effects make me a tad nervous.

I eat a ton of potassium foods, esp. fruit, and take magnesium, so I wonder if that is the issue? The dizziness and PVCs seem to kick in when I stand up and walk around, so I wonder if perhaps the herbals are lowering BP too much? Its hard to tell with the damn cuff anxiety, where my BP can be 116/75 or 145/85 depending on what my brain feels like doing!
