Hi all,
I had my ACDF C5-C7 last Jan. I was doing pretty well, going to PT starting at 6 weeks post op. (for the muscle spasms).I took my daughter to NYC and then DC in May. I had to pull some heavy luggage....3 separate times....flying out of Denver and into NYC, taking the train to DC, and then flying out of Baltimore. I noticed a bad pain that I never had before in my right shoulder blade area. When I did my neck stretches (ear to shoulder), I noticed then and now, that when I put my left ear to my shoulder, I get STUCK and cannot come back up! I totally feel it on my right side, but the shoulder blade. The same thing happens when I do the head down halfway stretch on the left side (for the levator muscle). Cant get back up due to sharp pain in the rt. shoulder blade area. When I got back from my trip, the next day I went to PT. They did a few treatments and it seemed to get a little better. Like an idiot, a few weeks ago, I was going on a picnic and my husband took me to this ridiculous place. It was a place where you had to climb rocks and do alot of reaching climbing up and then back down. I went against my better judgement and now I am in worse pain. The PT said that have a jammed joint where the ribs join the spine from all the pulling. It doesnt hurt and then all of a sudden I do something and I get this sharp pain on that right shoulder blade, like you would not believe. I stopped doing those ear to shoulder stretches because it HAS to be aggravating it. Has anyone heard of this????????????????? Its nothing like any other pain I have felt. Usually I have had constant pain and not really sharp. This is not constant unless I do a weird action to activate it. (mopping the floor, moving my right arm or shoulder in a weird way...) Instead of neck pain, now its all thoracic!!! I am so frustrated.

Well, I went to PT and they made an appt. for me to see my surgeon in 2 days. I was supposed to see him at my 6 month's appt. on July 17th, but they are thinking I should not wait. The pain has gotten worse since my post. It is now in the whole thoracic area on both sides and the middle. They are thinking I may have irritated something in the neck, which is why I am having bad symptoms ijn both shoulder blades and the thoracic area. I guess that trip to NY was too much, too soon. :-(
