Corneal opacities, night blindness, cataracts, color vision disorder, conjunctivitis, dry eyes, keratitis, optic
neuritis, photophobia, visual disturbances...these problems(side effects) are listed in the May,2000 updated pharmaceutical insert on Accutane, a prescription acne medication.

I have and now I have been dealing with dry eyes for years and poor night vision... Sad to say but the benefits of accutane are pretty much good for me.

Your post left me speechless for awhile.
You would risk something going wrong with your eyes in order to clear up acne? That is incredible. Well, I guess your eyes aren't that important to you. You did have problems after taking accutane and still think it's worth it. Watch out for cataracts later on.
That is one of the possible side effects too.
Of course to you it would be worth it.

I am amazed at all the talk about Accutane on this heath board. I took it twice (6 years ago, again 3 years ago) and was pleased with the results. For a few years now, though, I've suffered some really annoying health issues that just reading this board is making me wonder if it is Accutane related. I have tons of stomach problems...there are tons of foods that make me sick to my stomach. Plus my sinuses and my eyes are awful....I can barely wear my contacts anymore and my eyes are always red and dry. Could this possibly be related to Accutane? If so, I would DEFINITELY say it was NOT WORTH IT! I miss my contacts and I miss being able to feel HEALTHY. Bad skin stinks, but feeling this way is even worse.

Just a reminder....drug companies must list ALL "side effects" encountered during drug trials. In other words, if one of the trial members has a headache while taking the drug..headaches are then listed as a potential side effect. The person could have had a random headache for no reason...maybe stress at work..etc but in any case it must be listed in the potential side effects. Keep this in mind when you read the inserts on medicines or in the PDR.

I suffer from the same eye problems, and I finished Accutane over 3 years ago! My eyes are dry and red all day, especially in the morning! I hope they get better, but I don't think so. I'm going back to see my derm. and tell him that that Accutane has been a failure.(Side effects worse than benefits of clear skin.) If anyone knows of a web site for side effects complaints, please post. Good Luck to all.

The FDA/Medwatch system of the reporting of adverse events from a drug has thousands and thousands of adverse event reports listed on Accutane.
It is required that the event be life-changing or life-threatening for the report to be filed.

These adverse side effects are very real and not so "rare" as one is led to believe by dermatologists in general. What is the saying by Judge Judy---"don't pee on my leg and tell me its raining". Never can remeber the exact quotation. Well don't tell me these side effects rarely happen if at all.

In the May-2000 insert/update/revision of the insert(which is not required to be given out with Accutane since it is not a new drug) it does state that you may have vision problems/dry eyes that will persist after stopping Accutane.

Yes. Accutane makes dry eyes syndrom and therefore eyes become dry/red etc.
When you have dry eyes syndrom it's really hard to wear contacts.
Down the road YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO WEAR CONTACT LESNES(happen to me and others) and you will end your life with piece of trash on your face with magnifying glass(glasses!).
Trust me, a girl with glasses does not worth a second look.
EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE. Too bad I've learnt about accutane after I've taken it.
Sorry I forgot to add that. Of course there will be some guys that like "glasses girl". Those will be: 1)old men 2)ugly men 3)men with no hair :bouncing: and of course "glasses men". (A geek with a geek=that's how society is built!)
I've learnt too late in my life but I hope I help some people.
I deeply regret I took accutane. Deeply regret. I took it when there was no warning about vision fluctuation, dry eyes syndrom etc.
Too late for me. But maybe for you it's not too late.
Thanks for reading it.

Glasses do not make one automatically a geek. I have met plenty of guys who have seen me with my glasses on that are not like any of the guys you described above and they had no problem with it. You should at least try getting some cute or funky glasses that'll make you feel confident about yourself instead of constantly saying you're a geek.

I take accutane, my eyes are fine. Whatever, some people share all this crap that blah blah accutane ended my life, whatever.

A girl with glasses isn't always ugly, I know plenty of hot girls that wear glasses sometiems at night after the contacts go out. Thats what I do..its not always "ugly". Of course if your ugly justiceseeker, then yeah with glasses you will still be ugly...

Note, I've just wanted to share the new information: "Some people will not be able to wear contact lenses when the course is over" or years down the road due to dry eyes syndrom" with people that have concerns about contact lenses.
I've met a lot of people that cannot wear contacts today because of dry eyes syndrom due to accutane use.
I'm glad to hear that you like glasses. Some people don't.
So I like to share the new findings from the FDA here on the net.

Oh, well I hope im not one of those people but I have really watery eyes to start with.

I don't wear glasses, nor would I. I just think some girls look cute in them, when they wear them sometimes.
