hello people, i hope i can get some advice on a problem i've had for ages, but only just remembered i suffered with just recently after moving and not being alone in my house.
this may be a long post....

basicly, i go to bed, and it can take me hours to get to sleep. i lay there really tired but nothing happens...then when im just drifting off, someone in the house, or a pet, makes loud noises (well, they seem loud coz im tryin to get to sleep) and im wide awake again. falling asleep is a big problem, mainly because any sound at all, which isnt my relaxation music, irritates me and i cant sleep. i lay in bed half the time waitin for everyone else to go to bed, because no matter how much i try n block out the sounds, i just cant.

i also have problems sleeping in too, mainly for the same reason...

i feel like im going crazy, coz i should be sleeping now but i cant get to sleep...im tired, and i know ill feel even worse in the morning...

any ideas what i could do?

sorry if its really long

I know how you feel! It takes me so long to go to sleep and just when I fall asleep a noise of some sort or someone coughing will wake me and then I'm up again!
I ended up using white noise to assist with falling asleep because I can never totally shut out other noises(even a wrist watch on the dresser can keep me awake). I've tried a small fountain(water running over rocks) and a cd of thunder storms or soft music. Also a I drink chamomile tea or take a relaxing bath before I get into bed and turn on the fountain or cd. The fountain is soothing and the storm cd actually knocks me out.

I wish you much luck with getting a good nights rest!

At my boyfriend's house he has a fan and it blocks out all other sounds and I sleep great. But he is out of town right now so I am suffering! Try taking some melatonin before bed. It works sometimes.
