Dh and I will most likely be doing IUI in the next few months. I made our consultation appointment today for July 10th. Four days before the year anniversary of finding out we were infertile.
Anyway I am wondering if HPV impedes getting pregnant. I have it was diagnosed last year and have never had an outbreak. I had no idea I had it. I had an abnormal pap, they did the test and there ya go HPV. I had a colcospy (sp) done and everything was fine. Other than that I have no issues. Dh and I will be using donor sperm.

Hi
No it shouldn't. It is just a virus. the major concern is if you get CIN III or something more advanced as a result of not having a regular Pap smear. Once you have a cone biopsy one of the side effects can be damage to the cervix. If you are doing IUI or IVF this becomes even more irrelevant as you bypass the cervix. My oncologist (yes, I got cervical cancer) side that even if I have a another bout of the pre-cancer cells CIN 11,III or cancer in-situ, we can deal with it after pregnancy is over. It is slow growing cancer so takes a long time to develop into something serious. I had my operation to remove or the cells about 2 years ago, I am on IVF as a result and have complications but I am not affaid of developing it again or that it is having any impact on my fertility apart from providing a physical barried....that is getting through the scar tissue from the operation. I also have weird cervix which doesn't help and in very prone to cell abnormalities. Another storey for another time....my cervix is inside out.
Well, don't worry relax and try to enjoy the journy. I doubt you have anything to worry about. But feel free to contact me if you need more information.
Cheers

Thank you that makes me feel better. My doc told me I have the most beautiful text book cervix she has ever seen. LOL! So we have that on our side as long as HPV does not mess it up.
