Dh and I are finally going to take the plunge. After he came to terms with being sterile he has given the ok to get donor sperm. I made our appointment for July 10th. I cant believe how much they charge jsut to talk to a DR. Geez!
I am wondering if anyone can give me advice on what to expect or what to do to prepare besides the thousands of pages of paperwork they sent me.
Thanks!

Hi Sommer,
I'm not really sure if I can answer your question, but I did want to congratulate you on taking the plunge and wish you tons of luck as you proceed. :)
You said DH is sterile, but I can't remember - have you been checked out? If not, that would definitely be the first place to start.
If you have been checked out, you might want to ask your dr to recommend some sperm banks so you will know where to start w/ a reputable company.
Don't know if that helped or not, but just wanted to let you know somebody is thinking of and praying for you. Good luck at your upcoming appt. Please keep us posted.

way to beat me Holly ;) :D I totally agree with Holly. I have never been in your situation, but I would for sure get yourself checked (if you haven't already) and ask your dr where there is a good, reputable, professional sperm bank in your area. Good luck and ***BABY DUST*** :blob_fire

Hey Sommer- So glad to see you back and taking that next step. On our 1st apt. with RE he just talked to us about the procedure, we did IUI with donor sperm, how it is done, the chances of it working, ect. We also had to go see a Therapist before our RE would go forward with us, which is no big deal. Our therapist just talked to us about how to tell the child if that is what we are going to do, she also talked to us about some things to expect later on down the road once child is older. She gave us some great artilcels to read and books to read to the child once it is born to help the child inderstand why we did what we did. Your RE will also have you go get some tests done also. Probably an HSG, which is just a simple precedure to check to see if your tubes are open. I think that is all that was done on our 1st visit. It was pretty painless.
I wish you very much luck and please continue to come to the boards for the support and answers to your questions. Like I have said before, these ladies are great.
