Hi I really don't know what these numbers mean. My eye doctor gave them to me. Can somebody explain them to me? thanks:confused:


This is 8 weeks post op -9.50 and 10 pre op before custom lasik

can I expect anymore improvement?

Considering how bad your eyes were prior to surgery (-10 severe myopia!!) you got outstanding results and you should be very happy.

-.50 means you are probably about 20/25
-.75 means you are probably about 20/30 or 20/40

0.00 is ideal and means you are neither near nor farsighted. Negative numbers mean you are nearsighted and have trouble with distance. Positive numbers mean you have trouble with reading.

Also your age is a factor. If you are 45 or older some people believe you are better off with slightly negative numbers like you have because it will delay the inevitable reading glasses that everyone eventually needs.

You will not see any more improvement at this point. Over the years you could regress a little though towards -1.00 or 20/40 to 20/50
