ok this may sound like a silly question....

when i had my colposcopy back innovember and the doc first talke dto me about hpv and i relayed it back to my parents, i remember my dad saying thatw hen younger he was prone to warts (not the genetal ones),

he had in total what he estimated was probably near 100 burnt off over the years, from ghands, knees, etc.

i'm just wondering is the virus that causes warts on teh body the same virus as causes genital warts?

and if so is it possible taht i 've actually carried hpv from birth?and just that my immune system due to depression last yuear was unusual low so my body couldnt fight it?

i cant find anything about normal warts to find out what strain it is....i just no that coldsores ARENT related to hpv (which my mum suffers badly from).

warts are caused by HPV strains, not necessarly the same strains that cause cervical dysplasia. There are abput 100 + Hpv STRAINS. The cold sores are caused by Herpes Symplex virus.

Lower immunity makes your body prone and unable to fight the viruses. As far if you have the virus from birth, well, No, unless you mom had genital warts when she gave birth to you. I think that's a very rare but possible way.

Don't worry too much how you got it. One of your partners probably gave it to you.
