Just curious for those that have had the surgery and are several months post op -- how long before you were pain free? OR will there always be some amount of pain?
I am two months post op and my neck and back, left arm (before it was right arm only) and at times my right arm have bad pain. Not as intense as before at all but still pain and a different sort of pain . . . .
Thanks for the info!

Hi I am 8 months post op and while spasms from hell have diminished there are good days and bad days and a few pain free days. One NS I consulted with said I may be in chronic pain rest of my life, while others said surgery should eliminate most pain.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Here's to hoping you have many more good days than bad!
Might need to contact my dr. The first month was painful and then the 2nd month was getting better and now that the collar is off - I am having more pain and it is lasting longer.

I'm one month post and pain free. I still get weakness in my neck when I sit up too long without back support.
My throat still feels funny but no pain.

Hi,
I am 2.5 months post ACDF (one level), donor bone, plate/screws, no collar. I have no pain beyond some aching at night/minor spasms at times - no big deal. I'd say that at 5-6 wks out the pain was minimal.

I am 7+ weeks post op, no nerve pain, had some tingling in my fingers for about 3 weeks, I am out of the hard collar and have a soft collar now, my neck muscles are sore and tire easily, but PT will help with that.
I had 1 level ACDF with my own bone, no hardware and fusing well.
