I have receding gums that make my teeth look elongated. Is there a way I can lower my gums without having to have some expensive surgery? I'm not insured so I'm really in trouble.

Hi, I have the same problem. On one side of my upper mouth, alot of roots are exposed which looks awful. On the other side it's not so receeded but I have large black gaps where the gums have gone. I have been having specialist treatment but so far haven't got onto how I can improve the look of my gumline, because up till now they said the main priority was to get my gums healthy. Gum grafts sound painful and serious, bonding stops you being able to clean the gumline efficiently and I'm not sure where we stand on veneers and caps. I am in dispair about it , I can't believe there is nothing to be done to improve the look .:dizzy:

Have you asked if it can be done without surgery?

No, haven't got that far yet. main priority has been to get the gums healthier, but next appt. hopefully can discuss what to do cosmetically. It is a nightmare for me as a young single woman, my looks are so important and at the moment I feel my teeth totally let me down and destroy my confidence.
