I had surgery in May for spinal stenosis and it took all my leg pain away but now I have left sciatic pain and I always had tailbone pain. I had it prior to surgery and the surgeon did not know if the surgery would help. Well, now I have it everyday even at night - it is constant pain. Tuesday I had a shot in my tailbone that the doctor says will take away my pain. I know you can be worse for a few days and so far that is true. I woke up this morning thinking my pain would be gone - but it lingers on and is very difficult when I sit all day at work - 10 hour days. Anyone have tailbone pain also? Thanks.

Hi! Is the pain right on your tailbone, or in the area to right or left of it? The reason I ask is that I had bad pain to the left of my tailbone, and it turns out to be referred pain from my sacroiliac joints. I got shots in my SI joints which helped so much with the pain! Just a thought. Take care, Kera4

I have pain, pins and needles, and numbness in my tail bone. Right on it also. They don't know where that comes from. But what was said about the SI joints aove, I went back on an old report and it did say there was tenderness in the SI joint area. I don't know. This was never addressed in my surgery or any of my reviews. I hurt all over my lower back and legs. I guess the tail bone can be added to my long list. The tenderness in the SI joint was there prior to surgery, but not the pain in the tail bone. Let us know if the shot does eventually help the pain. Take care.

Hi
I also had tail bone pain before my lumber surgery and even worse after the surgery and the shots didn't help me one bit. The surgeon then decided to do a manipulation of my coccyx under general anaesthetic. When I came round the pain was awful and I couldnt even walk upstairs but 48 hrs later it went and its never come back except for the odd bit of discomfort which I can cope with. Hope that helps. Take care, Barbara:)

What is sacroiliac joints? My upper hips have been aching and when I walk, it feels sort of like the ball and joint are clunking. I feel like an old car! lol

At one point, I walked around for a couple of weeks with a broken tailbone and I didn't know it.
(I had slipped and fell from a puddle of water on the floor)
A doc x-ray'd it and found it.
At that same appointment, they fixed it for me.
It does involve a shot in the tailbone- a humbling experience to say the least-
a rubber glove, and digital manipulation of the bone itself.
Quite embarrassing.

Well, it is now 4 days since my tailbone shot and I am the same with no improvement. I wake up each morning thinking my pain might be gone and then move slightly and it is still there. I am trying to have faith that it will go away in the next few days. I will let you know as I go back to the doctor in a couple of weeks. The MRI I had showed that my spine was fine and the tailbone shot did not hurt; probably because like all of you I have had several shots in the past. I also have constant sciatic pain thus the MRI and the doctor will try to figure out the cause of that. I didn't think I would be one of those people with chronic pain but seems I am. My pain is to the left of the tailbone. Thanks for all your answers as they give me things to look into.
