HI,
I am new. I've been living with tmj for 2 years and now have developed what look like strobe light flashes in the peripheral vision of the right eye my tmj is worst on. Has anyone else has these symptoms? Should I see an optometrist? I have a yearly eye exam and last year I was normal.

It wouldn't hurt to see an eye specialist to rule out other possibilities but if you have tmj chances are its due to that - I think many of us have or have had some sort of vision disturbances such as strobes, frequent floaters, loss of peripheral or side vision, blurriness or lack of clarity and eye pain or eye lid twitching, etc. Welcome to the board, btw.

I get exactly what you described, and then some. It never happened until my TMJ started. I went to the eye dr, he said I was fine. I just always thought it was TMJ. It is bothersome and I get nervous about it sometimes. I'm glad I read your post, it makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one.

TMJ can cause this. So can migraine headaches that never develop into headaches (or do develop into them). The lights you describe are called auras. I have experienced these myself on a number of occasions. Try looking online for 'aura migraine' and you'll find more info.
