Don't know if I should be worried or not. Most of you know my story already, but for those of you who don't...I got my bfp on 6/4. Beta levels only rose for a few days and then dropped back down. Dr said I would m/c early and AF would come. AF showed on 6/15, and I was VERY crampy. I bled heavier and longer than normal, but nothing really extreme.
Here's the thing - I was feeling crampy this morning, and when I just went to the bathroom, I noticed that I am spotting. I'm on bcp in case we can start a new IVF cycle soon, and I never spot on bcp. I don't expect AF for at least 2 more weeks. BF and I did have intercourse last night, so maybe that could be causing it? I just don't know if I should be worried or not.
My mom told me that when she m/c, she didn't stop bleeding for weeks and had to go for a D&C. I'm wondering if part of the pg held on and needs to be removed? Should I call my dr? They close early on Fridays (noon) and I wonder if they will even be able to do anything for me before Monday. Maybe I should just wait and see how it plays out?
Appreciate any advice...Thanks!

Did you get checked up after your m/c? My dr had told me to go after 2 weeks to do an us. She checked that nothing was left inside and that everything was ok.
If i were you i d call the dr. It is true it might be due sex last night but if there still might be some tissue inside you it s better to get it removed asap so that you won t have any setbacks when the good news arruives on weds.

HI Holly Dolly,
I would call your doctor, asap (I use this right, non? asap?) It may be due to intercourse with your BF, but you never know. I don't think it's cause for alarm, but we woudn't want to have cause a setback, as Amy so wisely says. Let us know, cherie, what you plan to do! And good luck on Wednesday! Today is Friday, so slack today and it will go fast... and weekend always goes by fast! Thinking about you and praying for you!

Thanks Amy & Princess! I took your advice and left a message w/ my dr's office, so now just waiting for their call back.
Amy, your comment about getting the good news on Wednesday made me smile. :) Glad to see you are still doing well.
Princess, I told you to have a little faith in your English! ASAP is just short for 'as soon as possible' so you used it perfectly. :D You are better than you think.

Hahaha! Yes, perhaps my written english is passable, however my verbal...I still have very strong accent. When I go to other parts of canada they laugh :D :D :D I laugh too!

Princess, the spotting isn't too bad...There were only a few spots on my panties, but when I went pee (TMI) the liquid in the toilet was tinged by the blood, so it's definitely there. I'm not really sure how quickly they will get back to me. Sometimes they are really quick and other times they aren't, so I guess it just depends on how their day is going. I am pretty confident that if they can't return my call before they close at noon, they will at least have my nurse call me this evening. So that will be good.

Of ocurse, they speak some, but not as much.

Sorry girls, I have been so busy at work today!!
My dr's office did call back, and they are going to send me for another beta to confirm that my levels are negative. The spotting is still there, but my nurse thinks it is probably just break through bleeding from the bcp. I'm gonna go for the b/w tomorrow morning, and they will call me when they get the results from the lab.
Thanks for your concern!! :D

I don't want another war to break out while I'm there!! :dizzy: But we will hopefully go in December, if I can get that off for work, but it shold be easy becuase nobdy here takes vacation days. Princess, Amy, and Mapia, thanks for checking on me. You girls are the greatest! :D
Went for my b/w this morning and my nurse called this afternoon to say it was negative, less than 1. Then she said, so we know your not pg...and I thought, well yeah, I started bleeding weeks ago, we know that already. I thought we were making sure there wasn't any of the pg left. She did say that she really doesn't think the spotting is anything to worry about yet (it is still there by the way). She told me if it gets any worse over the weekend or is still there on Monday to call her back and she'll talk to my dr. So that's all for now. :) Thanks again girls. Hope you are having a great weekend. I'm about to go shopping w/ my friend.

Hey Holly, Well I think it is very good news that they confirmed the hcg is less than one. It sounds like you will likely be okay to proceed. I know that breakthrough bleeding is very common during bcp, so hopefully that is just what is going on. I know you were planning on hearing from your RE on Wed and I really hope that you get good news about the recipient couple and being able to move forward!

Thanks Kari. I'm starting to think it might be breakthrough bleeding too. One less thing to worry about. :) To be honest, I'm kind of nervous about hearing from my dr next week. I really don't know if we can afford to do this again so soon. I wish it wasn't so expensive. I hope you are feeling okay. I've got to go catch up on your thread. Take care of yourself.

Hi Ruby!! How are you? Haven't heard from you in a little while. My spotting actually got heavier yesterday, and I was going to call the nurse. But then I had to go to my aunt's 70th birthday party, and it turned into a big family reunion! I saw so many cousins that I haven't seen in years! Such a nice time! :) So I didn't have time to call. This morning it seems a lot lighter, so I'm going to give it a few hours before deciding if I should call or not. Hope you had a great weekend too!

Hi Holly,
Glad you had a nice distraction from your worries! I'm sure you'll be fine - who knows what our bodies are up to. They seem to have their own agenda sometimes. I had random spotting and bleeding before ovulation during IUI cycle. No explanation. Very strange, but I'm sure you'll be ok, and things will get back to normal. I might do the lottery this week, and we can all share the winnings for our IF treatments! (If only...)

Ha ha Lizzie, I joke about the lottery all the time! If only it were that easy. :D I probably wouldn't have been too concerned about the spotting if it weren't for my mom. She is convinced I'm going to need a d&c. I keep trying to tell her the dr said not to worry, and as long as I feel okay, I'm not going to worry. I have enough to worry about w/o adding anything to it. ;)

Hi Holly. Could you be ovulating? I know that after doing an IVF cycle that when I ovulated the next month, I actually spotted. This never happened to me before taking all these meds and everything, and it happened on an "off" month when I was not taking any meds. My doctor said that sometimes when your body is trying to get back to normal this can happen and not to be alarmed. Just thought I would throw that out there. Good Luck :)
lizzie786
07-02-2007, 05:09 PM
That's right Holly, worrying serves no purpose, don't do it if you can help it! Sue is right, our bodies mustn't know whats going on half the time with all these hormones & meds. I guess it's not surprising really that they react strangely sometimes. Keep calm & positive.

I'm glad you had a nice weekend and the reunion sounds like fun. It's always so great to catch up with family.
I'm glad the spotting is lighter today. You must have been worried when it seemed to be getting heavier. If the doctor isn't too concerned and you are having no pain then I'm sure everything will be fine. I just wish things would start going right for you again and I am sure that given time they will. Hey Sue! It is the right time of month for O, but my dr has me taking bcp in case we get to start that IVF cycle soon. Bcp prevents O, right? At least I think that's how they work. I completely agree that it is probably just a result of my body trying to get back to normal after all that it has been through lately. :)
Lizzie, I agree! I'm staying calm. Keeping positive is a bit harder, but I'm doing my best. ;)
Ruby, you are so sweet. You always say something to make me feel so hopeful. I really needed that today, so thank you. I can't wait to see you posting good news either.

Hi Holly.
Just wanted you to know i am thinking of you. I saw your other post for me and it made me laugh that you remembered my cycle timing. yes i am exepcting AF this Sunday and that will be my next IVF cycle. and i am going to ask about the Bravelle vs/ Follistim thing. i saw a couple girls suggested i ask and i am wondering if maybe when the nurse called she didn't look in my chart and assumed i used Follistim. but i do have 10 boxes of Bravelle and i would prefer to use it. i'll see what they say. i suppose next week i'll be in for baseline u/s and b/w so i can ask then.
how are you feeling? is the spotting gone? is it driving you crazy? i hope your doc calls this week. maybe you'll be a summer IVF girl too!

Hi CBB!! I have missed you since you started that new job and don't have time to post regularly. I am such a slacker, my job would probably benefit from taking the internet away from me. ;) I am doing alright - have my good days and my bad days. Sometimes it is so hard to stay positive and hopeful. Thank God for this board and all of my IF sisters!! The spotting still hasn't stopped, in fact it is getting heavier again, and it is definitely starting to get on my nerves. I'm not really concerned by it, just annoyed with it by now. I hope it goes away soon.
I can't believe you are starting your IVF cycle so soon!!! :blob_fire :bouncing: :blob_fire :bouncing: I am so excited for you!!!!!!!! I know it's going to work this time. I really hope they let you use the bravelle. It would seem so silly of them to make you switch back to follistim when you hate it and already have the bravelle. When will you find out about that? Sending you lots of baby dust so you can stock pile it for your upcoming cycle*********************************** * :D

I'm glad to hear your sunburn is getting better. You must be feeling a lot of relief by now.
Princess, I did call my dr's office about the spotting on Friday. They sent me for b/w to make sure my levels were all the way back down from the pg, and they were. They told me not to worry about the spotting, it could be any number of things, none of which I need to worry about. So I'm just trusting them and hoping it will go away on its own soon. It's definitely starting to get on my nerves though. So, how was your weekend??? Did you have fun?

I hd a great time this weekend...just getting away... and spenidng time with DH. Sometimes it seems that when at home, and we're working, or whatver, that we don't get to spend time with one another. And when we do talk, the Tv is on or whatever. But at the cottage, we got to sit down and TALK with one another, liek when we were dating....sounding, little romance movie...I think I fell in love with him again
But I think something was in the water..we took our own bottled water, but i had a cup of tea from the tap....I don't know what. Perhaps I'm paranoid (I looked that word up to make sure! :p ) I just have been feeling very nauseous all weekend and today.

AAAAWWWW Princess that is to cute.U are so right about everyday life DH keeps making the same complaints to me.He says u are always to busy for me.He is such a baby always wanting attention. But he is right seems like we have grown apart here.In greece we were alone in our little condo so it seemed we were always togother watching tv together.Im greece we made it a point to have one tv in the living room and 1 in the bedroom so we only watch tv together. We almost never watch tv in our bedroom dont know why we even have it there.Sometimes when I couldent sleep I would turn it on.Thats why I cant wait to go back and take a vacation I know it will be great.I am so happy u got time to go away this weekend.
Thanks for ur prayers Holly it means so much to me.It feels weird that I am not cycleing but also feels good.I am so much more relaxed and happy even DH said it.This long rest will do us good so we can be ready to go again in Sept.

Princess, having a tv in the bedroom is not all it's cracked up to be. My BF is BIG on video games too (He truly is a big kid), and whenever I complain that I don't want to watch him play his stupid game, he reminds me that we have a tv in our bedroom and I can watch whatever I want up there. Thanks for the tip re the remote - I will definitely have to try that one! In all honesty I must agree with Aimee. I do spend a lot of time on the computer (on these boards) and DH never complains so I shouldn't really moan about him playing video games. I think it is how a lot of men de-stress and relax, it is their way of tuning out for a while. As for me, I would rather get stuck into a good book or magazine!
I'm glad the spotting has slowed down, I left a message for you on the other thread about it too.
Catch you later!

Princess, of course it worked! Men can't get by w/o remote controls these days. ;) That is so funny!!! BF asked me what I'm laughing about, but I won't tell him.
Ruby & Aimee, you have a point. I spend a LOT of time on these boards, and he never complains. ;) I'll have to keep that in mind.
Mapia, hope you found something to do yesterday. Today is a much hotter day, I think Mother Nature is confused...we should've had this weather yesterday. :)

Holly, I am glad the spotting has gotten lighter. Sure hope it stops completely soon so that you don't have to worry about it anymore! And maybe your RE will remember to call you before the weekend so that you don't have to wait till Monday. Oh, and if u and Mapia don't hurry up back I'm gonna stay depressed. (((hugs)))
Princess, I really want your appointment to go well next week. Hopefully your doctor will be able to offer some promising suggestions and treatment options for you. Do you know what they have planned for this appointment? Is it more of a consultation at this point?

07-05-2007, 02:50 PM
Oh Kari, how sweet of you to remember me!
Thank you for your thought on next week's appointment....its Friday the 13th...je sais, I was not pleased when I heard that, not only becuase it was moved from the 9th, :bouncing: but onto the 13th of all days!! :p
Oui, at this point it is only a consultation, I believe, since nothing is really planned. But I hope that she will give me something for PCOS, and we can start a plan for something. I am quite nervous, because the last time I went, I was 16, and she spent most of the time talking AT me, you know? And then i was rushed out! I am preparing to tell myself I am not 16 anymore and I have many questions, and I will make this appointment worth the wait that i have been through. :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing:
Holly, must not forget to tell us about the call you get from doctor on Monday!! I will be thinking about it all weekend, have no doubt!!

Hey Princess, the 13th is my DH's b-day and we think it's actually a very lucky #! I hope it is in your case too! Hopefully your RE cooperates and listens to you as much as she talks at you this time.
I know there are treatment options for people with PCOS... in fact, a couple days ago when my IVF cycle was cancelled, my RE had a patient of his call me to talk about what she went thru and to help encourage me not to give up. Apparently she had a bad case of PCOS and twice her cycle was cancelled b/c of hyperstimulation, like I experienced. She said it took about all she could handle to try a third time and after a sucessful retrieval followed by a BFN, she did a frozen transfer with the embies from that cycle and she is now 12 weeks pregnant. So keep the faith cause there are miracle workers out there and I know your miracle is in store. I know I'll be saying the same thing to myself soon enough when these hormone levels taper off!

:bouncing: Happy Birthday Kari's DH!! (On the 13th!):bouncing: Of course it must be a lucky number then, he was lucky enough to marry you, oui? :D PCOS, is it very common then? And it's caused by hyperstimulation? I really have no idea about it....when information gets talked at me (like how my doctor did) I don't remeember things very easily :(
When do you expect your hormone levels to calm themselves? I hope it's very soon! :blob_fire It makes me really happy to hear that.... my miracle is just waiting. I know yours is, becuase you will make an amazing mommy very soon!

Hey Princess. I actually don't know a whole lot about PCOS... but hyperstimmulation does not cause it. I have only heard that women with PCOS may be more likely to hyperstimmulate during an IVF cycle. And medically, I really have no idea why that would be the case. I would say that although PCOS is not common, it is not all that rare either. I've really only heard of it since joining this board, but it is discussed all the time. And I've heard of many ladies with PCOS getting pregnant! I hope you start getting some answers at your appointment next week... I know it will make you feel much better!
Oh, and I think the hormones are starting to drop off... I'm not crying at the drop of a hat anymore, so that's good ;) And yes, I do believe both of our miracles are in store and amazing mommies we will soon be. I have not given up.

:bouncing: Thank for your answers Kari!! They really helped! I didn't really hear of PCOS much so I didn't know if it's very common or very rare. ;) I'm really realy realy glad to hear that lots of women with PCOS can still have babies thoguh!!
I'm super happy to hear you're not crying when dropping yur hat. Slowly, you will get back to normal. You're getting a little bit better each day! Everyday, you are a little bit better, and even thoguh you might not feel it, when you look back you will see how you progressed. And when you are holding you little baby in your arms, and look back at all this you're going to be stuned at how strong you are and how far you've come.

PS - you really made me smile when you said how happy you are that I don't cry when dropping my hat. I thought that was really sweet.

Princess, You were asking about PCOS and I have it also. It is actually pretty common. I have a book on PCOS and it said that it affects 1 out of 10 women. The classic symptoms are irregular periods, excessive facial or body hair, acne and infertility. Also obesity, chronic fatique, gloucose intolerance. It is a hormon imbalance, with too much estrogen and increased testosterone in the blood and not enough follice stimulating hormone in the ovaries to release an egg regulary.
I have a 3 year old son which I conceived naturally after 3 failed Bravelle/IUI's. Hope this gives you hope.

Amy, once again I just want to thank you for keeping me in your thoughts while I wasn't able to post. It meant more to me than I know how to express.
You too Princess. You haven't even been on the boards that long, and yet you have expressed such genuine concern for me that I feel like you are my sister. I missed you ladies so so much. I am getting excited for your appt on Friday, Princess!!!! I think it's great that you already have your questions prepared! Remember that the dr is there to help you, and don't be scared of her. Unless of course she really does have fangs and a dark cape. ;)
Jam, not sure if you will be back, but I hope so!! I know how important the support is that we receive here. And I think you're on the 2ww, so I'm sure you need it even more! Thanks for asking about me. All is fine. The spotting has stopped completely and we are going to try an IUI next cycle. We need to pay off the debt from the first IVF before we can try a second one. Hope you come back soon!
Vraiment, I am so happy that you are back, Holly! I have missed you more than words could possibly express. I have not been here long at all, but I feel so bonded with all of you, and your presence has impacted me  HOnestly, ma chere chere Holly, ma petite chou-chou, having you back is wonderful. I would gladly give up my BFP for the next YEAR just to have you back and active on this board :bouncing: You've probably told on another thread how your conversation with your RE went...I'll look for it maintenant, mais if i don't find it I'm coming right back here to ask, cherie!!

Auf, friday. :o So much to do!! I have my appointment at 11;30am, but it is in my home city, so I have to take the day off to go. which isn't bad, beucase I htink of it as long weekend, but while I'm there, I have to get a new...passeport. (same in english, non?) So that will take a LOT of time. My DH et moi, we have decided that if I do not get pg in the next few months then we will take a vacation for a few weeks to Lebanon to relax, destress. And we will be going during Christmas and New Years, so when we come back, we can start all over again fresh. :D
Have you seen JAM's posts? Why does it say she is ban? What happened?
JAM come back soon!!! :( :(

We say passport, so yeah, that's pretty much the same. If you have to do all that, when will you be able to get online and tell us about your appt??? I will be thinking of you all day wondering how it went!! A vacation sounds like such a good idea. We are going away this weekend (just overnight from Saturday into Sunday), and I'm really excited. It's always nice to get away from everything, and it might be just the ticket to getting your bfp - that is, if you don't already have it by then, which I'm praying you will!
I too saw that Jam was banned, but I don't know why. I hope she comes back soon!!!! It's no picnic not being able to post, I can say that for sure!

Every time I asked my doctor about it they woud just say "Just realx and it will come" Some doctor! So now hopefully I get some medications or something.

Hi Holly!!!! I had a very good feeling we'd see you back after a week or so! Seeing your posts have made my day!!! Sounds like you're going for an IUI cycle.... I'll have to go check out the thread that Amy started and catch up! (((hugs))) and welcome back!

Hi Princess, it is really frustrating when a dr has the wait and see approach. Don't they realize how important our health is?? Isn't that why they are drs? Thank God they are not all like that and there are some excellent, caring drs out there. I really hope you get some answers!!!!! To answer your question, we're going to Atlantic City for the day with two other couples. We're going to see a boxing match and then doing some shopping. It's gonna be great!
Kari, I have to admit I was really worried I wouldn't be back! I am so glad the ban was lifted! Yep, we are probably going to be doing IUI this cycle. I still have to convince my BF as he thinks anything less than IVF is a waste of time. Thanks for the welcome back!!

Holly, I know eh? You would think that thy would at least offer a BIT of support. even if there isn't anything wrong, they could offer some sort of advice, non? and if there is something wrong, then refer you to a specialist or give you some thing instead of saying "Oh you're only 16, you have plenty of time so just relax." Ifmy Dr.Dracula says that, I swear, I will whip out the garlic so fast....:jester:
Your trip sounds very exciting! I know you will have TONS of fun!! I mean, when shopping is involved who wouldn't have fun??? I will sound bad for asking, but when do you go? I know you will have so much fun!
