After recovering from a nasty viral illness i started getting black and clear floaters in both eyes and ghost images at night. When i look at a road sign at night there is a duplicate above the orignal. It happens in both eyes and also when either eye is covered. When to eye doctors and they said my eyes are fine. Any ideas out there? This has been going on 4 months.
Chris
Are or were you on any new medication during or after the virus?

I was on amoxicillin for a tooth infection after the virus had left. I suppose the damage is here for good.

That's probably what it is. Maybe in time the ghosting will disappear. What a shame, I just had a feeling it had to do with medication. Try not to focus on it and know it could have been worse. I wish you the best of health for the New Year.

Joy - have you had a similar experience?
No; I have a floater though for the past year. It is my understanding that certain meds [antibiotics included] can cause all kinds of problems to certain people. Also, with certain dental work, bacteria has entered through the gums and injured heart valves [can't be proven, but happens all the time right after major dental work]. I would eat carrots [I know that sounds weird] and take Eyebrite [herb for eyes] and a multi vitamin. I wish I could be more helpful.

hi,
i'm hoping that you still visit this site or will get this e mail. I think I have the same thing that you have. I see an outline around objects, just like you mentioned about the street sign. I call it a trail or ghost effect, it moves as I walk by. Like a moving shadow. does it sound like what you have or had? I'm hoping your's has gone away by now. Send me an e mail.
thanks

Floaters sometimes interfere with vision, often during reading, and they can be quite annoying. If a floater appears directly in front of your line of vision, the best thing you can do is to move the eye. This causes the internal liquids to move making the floater move out of your line of sight. If moving your eye from one side to the other is not sufficient to move the floater; you should try moving it up and down. This will cause different currents inside the eye and help displace the floaters.
Sometimes, the vitreous fluid is very viscous and the floaters may be very persistent and bothersome. Surgical removal is considered only in the most extreme cases. For most of us, time will take care of this problem.

Hey ChrisB...I have the same problem as you. Road signs ghost upwards and to the left...I notice it during the day now than just as night. Did you ever resolve the issue? My eye doctor told me my eyes were fine and I had a head MRI w/ contrast; everything was OK with that as well.
Any ideas...Also having other health issues...ringing in my ears, flushing of the face...maybe unrelated.
