I have a problem I have been having sex with my boyrfriend for 3 yrs. with no problems I have been faithful and so has he (hopefully) and I recently had a yeast infection and then i treated it. and we had sex and it burned during and after sex. and i noticed it was red down there. I went to the doctor and she found bacteria cells and she gave me this antibiotics and she said try having sex again in 8 days and see if the burning is still there. It still burns but not as bad so what could that be?

Hey Jennifer,
Perhaps your vagina needs more time to heal as the tissue is probably still tender from the infection. Maybe try waiting a few more days, try having sex again, and see how that feels. If it's no better, I'd definitely go back to the doctor. A yeast infection needs about 10 days to heal so having sex right after the end of the 10th day can still be painful. Let your vagina rest and recover for a few more days (haha that sounds funny) and see if that helps. If not, go back to your doctor. Hope you feel better! :)

Thanks...I waited 5 more days to have sex and it did not burn at all but about 20 min later i totally felt like i had a yeast infection again i had the itching and irritation down there. So i went to my doctor again on friday and she has now decided to test me for everything. (hopefully all negative) She seems to think i got another yeast infection from the antibiotics she gave me to cure my bacteria infection. I get my results on wed. wish me luck jennifer
