Hi, I'm brand new to these boards, not sure where the best place to post this. I was taking hydrocodone (for pain) for many months, and asked to be prescribed something different. Dr gave me Ultram ER (100mg), today is my first day taking it. It didn't seem to kick in, so I took one of my vicodin pills because I was hurting so much. Now I'm wondering if that might not have been a safe thing to do? Or is it ok? I'm hoping I get a soonish reply, since i've mixed the medications within the last 30 minutes. thanks!

i know this is a bit later than you wanted but i just wanted to mention that the ultram IS an extended release type of med, meaning it releases its contents over a period of time vs the hydro or other shorter acting meds that release contents immediately.so you probably would not "feel' anything right away anyhow.i know with the oxycontin i am on,it can take around a full hour for just that very first release to occur.i am not too familiar with how the ultram releases, but i would assume it is somewhat similar?i would be more concerned about a possible interaction of the ultram with any possible anti depressants you could be taking.it has its own type of anti depressant effect itself.hope all is well,FB
