hi warlock, when I finaly recieved my award for SSDI. it was after two (2) denials. and only after my workman's comp. case settled in 1995, became disabled in 1992. once W/C declared me "permenant & stationary" I got a call from my case manager, I think it was anyway? saying he only needed to see me in my local office to finalise my approval. he told me then what my momthly check would be, don't remember exactly the amount he said? roughly $960.00 per month? not sure if he miscalculated the agjustment for workman's comp? combined with SSDI can only total 80% og former wages. nut, my first monthly check was about $70.00 more than he'd told me, just over $1000.00 per month. again, not sure if was a miscalculation on his part or not?
just my own experience
good luck, you'll find out soon
congratulations! on your approval

When you get a yearly report from SSA they list what your benefits will be when you retire at 62 or 65 (now 66 for some) or if you become disabled. I was told by the local office during my intake interview, my monthly benefits would be what my highest benefit would be if I had retired at 66. It's based on your best five years of wages while working.
I was approved in five months after I applied and had my first check the next month. It is based on your highest five years of wages.

i have a question. my state disability thru CA is 747 a check. so the amount per month is 1494. is that about what i would receive thru SSDi? i'm petrified if i get a tiny amt (even though i have a good work history up until april 07, when i became disabled) that its going to just destroy what little of a life we have now.
