View Full Version : Extractions Are a Pain

I have a tooth in the back of my mouth ("tooth 2") that needs to be extracted. A private dental practice recommended that I go to a dental surgeon to have it removed, due to these considerations: 1. the tooth is decayed and only half the tooth remains (the other portion of the tooth just fell out one day) 2. Because only part of the tooth is cracked, splinters from the remaining piece of the tooth might occur during extraction unless I use an oral surgeon 3. the tooth is at the back of my mouth and the surgeon would have to wrestle it out. 4. I have braces on my teeth at the moment. Now, going to a dental surgeon is expensive. I could also go to a local community health center and have a dentist there extract the tooth for less money. From the oral surgeon, the tooth extraction would cost between $300-$600. From the local center the extraction may cost between $100-$300. What do YOU recommend that I do?
