hi everyone,

last week I noticed an area on my chest (just above my cleavage) that looked like 4 or 5 red bite-like bumps. The bumps are red as well as the area surrounding the bumps. They don't itch and are sensitive to the touch. I tried applying cortizone cream but it doesn't seem to be helping much. I also noticed a couple of same bumps with surrounding red area on the side of my chest (side of my left lung is best way to describe the area). They don't seem to be spreading but aren't going away, either. I'm completely clueless as to what they might be and how to treat them.

The bumps are just slightly raised and the area is more red and irritated-looking than anything. Any clue, or should I just scoot on over to a dermatologist to see what's going on?

Thanks!

probably nothing, but definitely go see a doctor and get it checked out.

red spots could be anything. my daughter broke out into red spots (look like bites but not itchy at all) all over her torso and spreading down her legs (to the knees) and we have no idea what caused them! we have finally narrowed it down to a possible allergic reaction to her brand new bathing suit... which i forgot to wash before she wore it ... we're thinking maybe the chlorine in the pool, mixed with the dye in the suit?? or possibly the laundry detergent at her grandma's house... spots started there. anyway, it could be a simple thing like that.

however... it could also be something more serious. my aunt has inflam. breast cancer, and her's started with red spots. doesn't sound anything like what you're describing, but it's worth getting checked out to be sure! :)

thanks, mcr! I made an appt with a dermatologist next week. The best way I can describe them is that they actually look like pimples, except without a head. I tried picking one just to see what was underneath (probably not the smartest idea) and it just hurt and bled a little bit. Now it looks like an angry pimple, but I don't know if that's what they are, since there are about five of them in a concentrated area on my chest, and the whole area is red - not typical of a pimple. I also don't have a problem with acne so I'm not sure what it is.

either way, hopefully the dermatologist will have an answer for me next week!

definitely would love to know if you find out what it is! my daughter's doctor isn't the most caring individual, and couldn't seem to be bothered with it, didn't have any answers, etc.... (we're in the process of changing doctors!). but what you are describing sound so much like what she had! so please let me know how things turn out! :)
