View Full Version : Help for tmj--wearing an oral sensor

I was reading a tmj newsletter today and it stated that most tmj sufferers also clench or grind their teeth at night. Well I do....it said that in order to get control of your problem you had to control the clenching. The way it said to do that was to wear an oral sensor at night. I was wondering if anyone out there has done this?

Hi, I have not used one, but a friend of mine saw a tmj specialist in Tampa and recommended she use one. It worked for her after many splints and she no longer suffers with any tmj symptoms. It took her awhile to get used to it but she swears by it. Good luck.

I had the oral sensor but have now graduated to the headband type. Its working great and I am glad I found it!! I haven't had a headache in months.

Hey....thanks for responding. Why did you change to another type of sensor?

Hi. On the web I went to [removed] and joined their newsletter. Then in one of the newsletters it talks about the sensor and gives the following website [removed]. I went to the site but I haven't decided if to purchase yet. I'm tired of wasting money on things that don't work. But if I get a couple of more positive responses, I'm going to get it.

I changed to the headband type because I was tired of drooling all over my pillow. The mouthguard type has an earpiece connected by a tube to the mouthguard. It worked good, but I was tired of the drooling.

The headband is called GrindAlert and its about $200.

The oral sensor that is shown on that website is the exact one I had. It does work well but I prefer the headband type.

Yes. Its called Grindalert. I haven't been having much luck with the maker's website (Bruxcare) but you can get it from a third-party seller. Just type in the name and it may give you some third-party sites to get it from.
