I just started on a new BC pill, Tri-Sprintec (was on progestin only pills). I've never heard of it. Has anyone taken it and if so, what side effects did you have? I'm hoping not to gain weight. When I went off Ortho Tricyclen, I lost between 13 and 16 pounds in a week.
Any info would be appreciated.
TIA,

Unfortunatley, no one can tell you what side effects you may have. Even other women who have taken tri-sprintec cannot tell you what to expect, because everyone's body is different. That is why there are so many different pills out there: no one reacts the same to any given pill.
For example, I took Demulen. For me, it was great. No weight gain, better skin, higher libido, etc. However, a friend of mine switched to another pill FROM Demulen because it made her loose her libido and she started to break out.
All you can do is try the pill, and give it three-six months so that your body has time to "get used" to the particular hormones in it. If, after that time, you find you have undesirable side effects, you can talk to your doctor about your specific concerns and think about trying a different formulation (brand of pill).
Also, if you are switching from Progesterone-only pills, be sure to abstain from sex or use condoms until you have taken seven pills in a row, at the correct time without vomiting after taking them. That way you will be at the optimal level of protection (over 99%).

tri-sprintec is the generic for ortho tri cyclen. Im on tri-sprintec its been good for my skin, I've gained a bit of weight but other than that it's been better than any other pill I've tried. I have taken otho tri-cyclen and I've not seen any difference between the two except Tri-Sprintec cost me $35 less. you just have to try it and see what happens I know people who hate this pill and people who love it. If you want more experiances search the boards for Ortho tri cyclen its the same pill

OOOOOOHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like an IDIOT:rolleyes: , I didn't realize Tri-Sprintec was generic ortho. If I had realized that in the first place, this thread never would've been started since I was on ortho for a long time and already know about it. DUH!:p
