Hi Bunny, welcome to the IF board! I'm in the UK and the system is different here, so I don't know about free treatment over there. Have you had any tests done? For example, sperm analysis, progesterone tests, tube dye tests etc? Also, if you haven't tried IUI,that would be a lot cheaper than IVF, and could be a good place to start? Very sorry you've been waiting so long. I hope it happens for you very soon.

Hi Bunnyrabbit,

We have health insurance, but it doesn't cover IVF, so I have looked into this a bit. I can think of two options to suggest to you:

My dr participates in a shared egg donor IVF program. It is how we did our first IVF cycle. I donated half of my eggs for the IVF cycle to a recipient couple, and they paid a good portion of my costs. Instead of paying $15,000 for the cycle, we paid about $5,000, including meds. We used a Capital One healthcare loan to get some of the $5,000 that we didn't have lying around, and the interest rate is very low. You could check around in your area for any drs that participate in this program.

Another program I recently heard about (still checking it out for myself) is run by an organization called INCIID. You can search them on the net. They have a scholarship program where they award one free IVF cycle to selected couples around the country. You have to send an application with a $55 fee, and the selection process can take up to a year, but in the end, you may end up with a free IVF cycle or two. I haven't applied for myself yet because I am nervous about BF and I not being married. I don't know if that would be a mark against us and wonder if we should even bother applying. Some requirements of the program...you will need a letter from your dr stating that you need IVF, and you can't have coverage for IVF.

I'm really sorry you've been dealing w/ IF. It is so hard to accept something is out of your hands when you want it so badly. I wish you all the best.

Holly
