For awhile now I have been getting pains in my eyes (mostly left) which seem to just feel like headaches in the eyes. My eye doctor says it is eyestrain and that it is caused by reading, but I get them when I havent even opened a book, or concentrated on anything!! Even though the glasses do help, I would like to know why my eyes hurt (doctors call it eye strain) when I haven't even done any reading. Pain also occurs when I have been playing sports. Why?? Any ideas?? Should i tell my doctors about getting pains while not reading so they can maybe change perscription?? Any suggestions/help would be great!!

I get eye pains as well. Feels like eye-headaches!! Well it could be sinus... mine usually just come from time to time. Are yours like that? I dont think its anything to worry about... but have u been to an actual eye doc. about them?

I have had sore eyes for quite some time. As you say a pain in the back of the eye. I have been to a number of doctor’s neurologists and I was told is was stress.

In my neck the veins carrying the blood to the eyes get pressed by the muscle slowing the flow of blood and causing the pain. The muscle tension is caused by working out or stress. Most of my problems started after I joined a gym.
This is what I have been told and to relax more. I have a stressful job so this does not help and I feel there is more to my problem than blood flow.

I hope this helps in some way.
