I have a friend who was diagnosed with psuedo tumor cerebi . She complained with severe headaches and blurred vision at the time. She had a spinal tap and was told her spinal fluid pressure was extreme. She also had a field vision test and was told she was losing her eye sight. She was put on 250mg Diamox daily. Its been 8 yrs and she still has the headaches and her eyes have gotten worse. She went to a second doctor and was told to stay on the diamox. Was also told she needed another spinal tap. She refuses to have another spinal due to the fact that she was poked 11 times before the doc got the needle in with the first spinal.( She was extremely ill a full week ater the spinal.) Anyway, Ive tried my best to get her to go to another doctor. She refuses.Im afraid she may lose her sight altogether. Does anyone know of this condition? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

People definitely do go blind from pseudotumor cerebri, but it can be prevented. Even if another spinal tap makes her sick for another week, it beats going blind. Strongly encourage her to go.

Have you searched under google? I've been checking it out a little myself and found some wonderful websites. Just type in pseudotumor cerebri and it will give you a pretty intensive search.

My doctor told me that my optic disk is cloudy, which means I have intracranial pressure. So I've been researching anything and everything that could possibly be related, and it seems as though I always come back to pseudotumor cerebri. I guess I'll find out June 17th, thats when I see the eye specialist.

Tell your friend shes gonna regret not biting the bullet and getting another spinal. From my understanding of it, blindness is a possibility! If you can prevent that why in the world wouldn't you!!!! She doesn't have to let the same doctor preform it!!??

Anyways good luck!
Lisa
