View Full Version : DISTORTED VISION (was "blurred vision")

Does anyone here experience distorted vision when they wake up, which is noticeably worse in one eye than the other, lasts pretty much the whole day, but then the next day seems to be gone completely?
Or, ever take a [one-hour] nap mid-day, and wake up seeing almost double out of one eye?
It seems to be associated with pressure being put on the affected eye, ie, sleeping on it.
There can be months between episodes, or it can happen to some degree nearly every day of the week, but always the vision returns to normal.
If you know what I'm talking about, please tell me what you do to PREVENT IT!

maybe you could try staying up all night?

but i guess after awhile, it wouldn't matter how bad your vision was! cuz you'd be too tired to do anything- or to care!

good luck, i hope there is someone out there who can help!

Sounds like an unstable tear layer is causing the fluctuations in vision. Do you have dry eye? Do you have goopy secretions from your eyelids? An eye exam will probably diagnose the problem.

Try cleaning your eyelids before going to bed (you can use a dab of baby shampoo) or warm compresses. Or try some artificial tears.

Thanks for your reply.

I have already seen an eye doctor and had all sorts of tests. My tears are fine.

I do have map-dot dystrophy, which is being treated, but I've had this other problem for a long time, whereas the map-dot is recent.

Anyone else have any ideas?

HOW OLD ARE YOU?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously????

My mother-in-law (to be) had this problem, (she's 50+) and it turned out the she had few mild strokes - the artery in her neck was 98% clogged. I am not trying to scare you. But if you are "older" TALK TO THE DoCToR!!!!!

e-mail me if you have any questions cbe118@aol.com
