Hi everyone. :)
I'll be starting Yasmin in a couple of weeks and I have a question for all of you.
Is it true that you can get an allergic reaction(difficulty breathing, swelling in the tongue, mouth, etc.) from the hormones in birth control pills? I came across this when doing some research on Yasmin.
I have been on Diane 35 and Alesse before and I have had no problems with allergies to them so I find this rather odd. Should I be concerned about getting a severe allergic reaction from these pills?
Thank you.:)

An allergic reaction can happen with any type of medicine, not just birth control. You just never know how your body is going to react.
That being said, I have been on Yasmin for 4 years now and have had no adverse affects whatsoever. As scary as it might sound, you never know what is going to happen until you try it.
Good luck!

I've been taking Yasmin for 7 days about. So far I haven't had such terrible side effects, but I am still afraid after reading lots of complaints of this pill..

I LOVE Yasmin! It's been great to me and no trouble at all. Yes, there is a chance you can be allergic, but this is true with EVERY medicine and it's pretty rare. I have never heard of anyone having this problem in my life. It's even possible with medicines like Advil... my mom has swelling in her mouth if she takes it and it makes it difficult to breathe. I can take it just fine!
Yasmin has not affected my weight or moods and makes my periods so much more manageable. I also feel more relaxed about sex because if I were only using condoms, I'd worry that it would fall off or break and I could get pregnant, because that has happened to friends of mine. The pill is SO accurate when used perfectly, so I make sure to take it perfectly. I recommend it to all of my friends.
I have nothing negative to say about Yasmin! I hope the same works for you ladies. I was so surprised to hear all of the bad stories. I guess it just doesn't work for everybody, but that's the same with all pills. For me, I'd much rather take Yasmin than one of those multi-phase pills like Ortho Tri Cyclen. I like the fact that I can skip a period for a vacation or special event if I need to.

I feel I must post my reactions to YAZ. I started YAZ for the first time this Wednesday (the first day of my period) at promptly 9:00PM. Within ONE hour (10:00PM) I started getting cold chills running through my hands, my throat started to become choked up and felt thick/heavy, my left arm became heavy and numb, my heart started racing and I felt like I couldn't breath and was having a panic attack! I decided to just go to bed because I was so freaked out. When I was in bed I started to have another panic attack and was seriously on the verge of going to the ER!
This was the scariest thing that has EVER happened to me. I could not believe it all happened within one hour. Some people do absolutely wonderful on YAZ/Yasmin, but please, if your body is rejecting it or having an allergic reaction...STOP THE MEDICATION IMMEDIATELY!
Needless to say, I threw all the YAZ samples in the trash and will NEVER be taking YAZ/Yasmin again in my entire life. :(
