It seems that no matter what I do, my eyes are always yellow around the edges, and some kind of discharge builds up at the corners that are close to my nose.
Does anyone know what might be the problem, and what I can do ? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Kramerica, when u say yellow eyes , do u mean the whites of your eyes? If so , the first thing that comes to mind is jaundice.

Yes, the whites of my eyes only around the corners. If I look at mirror and turn my head to the side, then I can see that there is some yellow color, but sometimes my eyes are clear, and eyes are never completely yellow.

hi again, I'm not a doctor ,but as i said before the 1st thing i think of is jaundice. Due to an increased amount of billirubin in the blood.Sometimes newborns have it. have u noticed any skin changes?ie yellow tint ? either way i would (if possible) have it checked out. The not knowing would drive me crazy!

No, my skin is fine. Theres no yellow tint to it, although I do have mild acne which is clearing up. But is there a way to reduce the amount of billirubin in your bloodstream ? And what exactly is jaundice ?

first of all jaundice is a symptom not a disease or condition. newborns sometimes get it because their livers are not mature enough. jaundice can be associated with liver or gall bladder irregularities.I know of no way to self control the amount of billirubin in ones own bloodstream. again i may be way off base with this , could be something completely different!!

I have Yello Spots on both of my Eyes but it seems to be getting bigger on my Right Eye.
I do feel it also . what could it be ?
ANyone know ?

No use guessing. See a doctor soon, especially if you think it is getting larger.

Hey guys, about your eyes. Dont feel bad mine are like that too, and I still dont know why. I havent gone to the doc. but I wanted to let you guys know that Milk Thistle (an herb) does help. Its for your liver and helps alot. One time my b/f had food poising and started turning yellow, his mother (a health nut) gave him Milk Thistle and his color came back and everything. You should try it.

yellowish eyes or skin is a sign of liver problems. i know this because my cat had a liver problem and his eyes turned yellow & so did his tongue, but this goes the same way for humans. go to the dr!

If the yellowish area has been there for a long time with little change, you probably just have pinguecula, which is a little extra tissue at the corners of your eyes resulting from years of exposure to wind and UV radiation. Try an image search on google for pinguecula and see if it looks familiar.

Yep, sounds like pinguecula. I am diagnosed with it. It's in both eyes and my doc said removal usually leads to it returning worse. UV, dry eyes, etc can cause it.

I agree with margosuperstar. That was my first reaction. Yellowness is the key here. Either way you should go to a dr and find out for sure. You need to be sure it is caught, if in fact it is anythign serious. Aside from that, I'm a veterinary technician and I see jaundice cases. Usually the skin, eyes, tounge, ears etc are yellow with yellowish tinge. Just the ohter day a dog came in and the entire eye was a dark dark yellow color(like mustard). Hello everyone, it's been a long time since I've replied to this topic because I completely forgot it even existed. Anyways, I just want to thank everyone for their support on this post.

I've done a bit of research on the net and came across a site which has a lot of info on eye disorders and related topics.

It appears that I have blepharitis. It's a condition where the eyelid glands become blocked with oils and bacteria. This is probably caused because of my acne.
Some symptoms include redness, irritation, crusting around the eyes, and sensitivity to light.

The site says that you should make a solution which includes two tablespoons of water mixed with one tablespoon of anti-bacterial baby shampoo. I was just wondering, if you don't have any baby shampoo, what else can you use instead ???

Well, I am new to this site, and I have had blepharitis before. Sometimes it can be a bacterial blepharitis, which may need some anti-biotic drops, or it can be an allergic blepharitis (I am pretty sure those are the only two forms). Are your eyes itchy at all? Do you seem to wake up with it more in the morning? Do you also get yellow mucous coming out of your eyes in the corners, or flakes around the eyelashes and corners of your eyes? When they tell you to use baby shampoo, they mean for you to use it as a lid scrub in order to get rid of the matted eyelashes and flakes that are sometimes associated with blepharitis. I am sure you know that you are not supposed to use the baby shampoo IN the eyes, because even though baby shampoo doesn't burn, it is still not something that is meant for the eyes. It is meant for you to just wash your lids with the eyes closed. Other than baby shampoo, you might try something like a hot compress on your eyes for ten minutes or so when you first wake up in the morning. If you do have blepharitis, that might help get rid of any yellowness or mucous or flakes. But you should see a doctor, because you need to make sure that is definitely what you have before you start treating it. I do find that my eyes have a pinkish glaze to them, which seems to get worse when I'm physically active.
They do produce a thin white discharge which is always present, and slowly builds up when I clean it off. I rarely find flakes on my lashes. I think that having moderate acne makes it worse. yeah, the acne probably can make it worse. That is one thing that I am fortunate not to have (knock wood!). I know exactly what kind of discharge you are talking about! It is white and stringy, and feels really really weird, like somebody is tickling your eyeball, if you try to pull it out of your eye. It almost feels like there is a string wrapped around the eye. Well actually kramerica, I unfortunately still have all of my eye problems. My eye doctor has tried everything under the sun to get rid of them. The thing that I have found helps the most is flooding myself with tear drops, and using cold compresses on my eyes. I have also used several allergy drops and steroids, as well as cyclosporin drops. Now I am on Lotemax, Cyclosporin, and Tobradex. In order to get rid of my dryness, my doctor permanently closed my tear ducts (not plugs, cuarterization). That has helped preserve my own tears. Right now I am trying the Tobradex ointment at night, right before I go to sleep. That seems to be helping a little bit. What have you done so far? Has anything made you better? I am open to any suggestions! For the blepharitis, when I get a flare up of that, he prescribes an anti-biotic such as Ocuflox or Ciloxan, and that gets rid of it. Sometimes Blepharitis can also be from an allergy (mine is not) in which case something like Patanol, an allergy drop, might help. Also, on the days where I get a lot of flakes or mucous, I use a hot compress for a few minutes, which helps clean everything away. My doctor has told me that if I want it to stay hot for a long time, I should wrap it around a potato and bake it in the microwave! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif If I want it to stay cold, I put it in the fridge or freezer in a plastic bag.
