Hello everyone, I'm new to the boards as of today and I'd like to thank you for viewing my post. My gyno gave me the Depo shot over 2 years ago to control my "severe" periods. I bled every day, for 7 months, as if I were having a heavy period, complete with cramps, bloating, breast tenderness, etc. I couldn't take it any more, so he put me on EstroStep (a pill). I bled every day, with severe cramps and lost about 15 lbs. (I've always been healthy, 5'4 about 130 lbs.) I developed severe depression, so after 3 months I was put on the Nuva Ring. Had horrible luck with that, the same symtoms as with prior BC methods, and I ended my relationship one day with the Ring when i sneezed, at the local mall, and felt it shoot out. ANYWAY. Dr. prescribed Yasmin. I stopped bleeding for one month, then everything started again. I had horrible pains, got myself fired from work because I was on the floor with sharp pains. Turns out I had cysts covering my right ovary & one on my left ovary, about 2 cm. The doctor said I may have PCOS. Never followed through to test me. Sent me home with a new Bc, this time the Patch. Same symptoms. After an MRI, CT scan, and 2 ultrasounds, he found that the lonely 2 cm cyst on my left ovary had now quadrupled in size. He said it needed to come out. I was scheduled for surgery on the following Monday, and Sunday I'd passed out from pain and beyond controllable bleeding. After surgery, he'd told me that my insides were in perfect shape, that he'd performed a D&C (never explained what that was...) and that my cyst had burst on its own (most likely the Sunday the day before). He then prescribed Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. Same symptoms. Then we tried Lo Estrin 22 Fe. Stopped bleeding for a couple weeks, then, you guessed it...same symtoms. I switched doctors, this doctor had said he felt I have endometriosis. He was arrested 2 months later (long story). Now I have no gyno, no insurance, & I've been OFF of EVERY OUNCE of birth control for 4 months. I've bled consistantly, only stopping a day or two maybe once a month, cramps, mood swings, horrible PMS, plus a 20 lb. weight gain over the past 6 months. Should anybody have ANY suggestions...I'm looking into getting state insurance once I move out August 1st (my father kicked me from his health insurance, and out of the house because my medical bills were "too much to handle" and im "old enough to support myself") Please, anyone with any advice...I'd appreciate it so very much.

First of all, I have to say, Bless your heart!! I feel so sorry for you. It stinks that you are having such a horrible time health wise, then even worse your family isn't being supportive of your problem and kicks you out! Sounds like you need some major moral support here, and a GOOD doctor!!! It seems like you may have something really wrong here, and a doctor that just keeps putting you on this bc then that bc and not even explaining to you what a D&C is and everythign else doesn't seem like a legit doctor to me, either that or he is CRAZY!!! If I were you, I'd get online and do a bunch of research about what might be causing you some of these problems. I always try to find out some of the possible reasons for problems I have before I see my doctor, that way when you make an appointment you will be able to discuss the things going on and explain what conclusions you may've come up with. It may take a few different appointments until you find a gyno that you feel comfortable with and trust. Ask around to different family members and friends, or just call different offices and explain your situation and see what they can do to help you. You may want to also try just starting at a local health department first to see if they can point you in the right direction. Until then, good luck and hang in there! It will all work out!

Thank you both for the advice...I have no insurance but after spending a LOT of time on these boards, I've seen that Planned Parenthood seems to be a good option, so I'm going there on Thursday. Thanks again ladies

I had a problem where I bled for 6 months straight. The first thing my GYN did was an ultrasound, and tehn lab work to test for PCOS, because I have several cysts on both ovaries. I do have it. He put me on Provera, which is a progesterone only pill. It stopped my period, and helped to regulate them. I am getting tested pretty soon for endometriosis. Now I am on the NuvaRing. I hope that they can find the cause of your problems!! Hopefully planned parenthood can help you out!! I was looking into going there, but there is not one close enough to me, and I can't afford another trip like that for a while, as I am going to Mayo Clinic on the 26th for kidney stone issues, as well as to figure out what the heck else is wrong with my body (I have been sick with multiple issues ever since that 6 month period, and that was 2 years ago!!). Keep us posted!!
