I'm having my tonsils out by laser in the doctors office on Monday. I am really
excited.:D He is using the laser and he will take out about 85% of the tonsil. I've talked to several doctors and they say this will help my problem greatly without going through the ordeal of a regular tonsillectomy. My main problem is the size of my tonsils. They swell up over anything and end up touching in the middle. I'll let you know how it goes. Supposedly most people go back to work the next day. I took off the whole week just to rest.

I'm back from my tonsillectomy. The worst thing so far was smelling the smoke as they were vaporized. My throat is pretty sore right now. They said I would have a mild sore throat for a week. I will keep everyone posted, in case anyone wants to go this route.

I am now on Day 3. The last two days have been up and down. Sometimes, I feel great with just some pain on swallowing. Other times, it really hurts. The worst pain seems to be when I first wake up from sleep. I am running a humidifier, but it still hurts. This morning was pretty painful until about lunch time. I have only taken Tylenol and Motrin today. After lunch, it seems to have gotten much better. I have been able to eat a baked potato, ramen noodles and banana pudding over these three days. I can't say it hasn't been painful, but I am so glad that I didn't do the other surgery.

Day 4- much better. A little soreness this morning. Took some Motrin and that helped. I was able to eat breakfast. So far so good.

Day 5. A lot better. The main time I have soreness is first thing in the morning and after I eat. I'm eating pretty good and sleeping well. Not using much Tylenol or Motrin now. I will say this hasn't been as pain free as I originally thought, but it has been much better than the stories I have heard with a regular tonsillectomy. If I had to do it again, I would definitely choose the laser procedure.
