I went to my doctor 2 months ago to start birth control, and he gave me 2 packs, enough to last the 2 months. He told me to go back before I ran out, and I made the appointment.. but I got on the wrong bus and didn't make it. So now I have one pill left (tomorrow's) and my doctor's office isn't open till Monday, and even then there won't be appointments available for 2 weeks. There's a walk in clinic I'm going to tomorrow, and I'm hoping they'll give me some or give me a prescription or something (would they do that??). I'm on Linessa, which probably doesn't change anything, but I'm just wondering, what happens if I'm off birth control for a couple weeks and then go back on it? How bad is that? Minus the fact of not being as protected.

Call your doctor's office, explain the situation, and see if he/she will call a prescription into your pharmacy for you (you should have your pharmacy's number ready). Doctors will frequently do this. In terms of negative effects, if you can't start taking your new pack within two or three days of your start date (usually it is the sunday after your period, but I am not sure given your particular brand) you should probably wait until after your next period to start a new pack. While it definitly isn't a good idea to go off and on the pill month to month and may mess with your cycles a bit, it shouldn't hurt you. Just be sure to use a back up method of protection. Again, call your doctor's office and see if you could speak to him/her or a nurse about this.
