Hi all,
Its been 2 days since i had my steriod treatment. I realise the puffiness and insomnia are part of the side effects. I was just wondering if any of you had experienced any pain in the upper body. My face, more the jaw line is very stiff and i asked hubby to rub my back & shoulders but they are almost to sensitve to touch.. feels like i'm badly bruised. I'm assuming its because my nerves and muscles are waking up. But gee didn't think it was going to get this bad. I mainly had trouble with my legs, thats why i went on th e streriods in the first place.Just wanna know if anyone has had this prob.
Any ideas ??

Glamour Girl,
Every time I take steroids, I get toothaches and jaw aches....and no, I dont usually take them for anything remotely related. My dentist told me it DOES make your nerves more sensitive and less tolerant....so, what you are dealing with is probably normal. I wouldnt sweat it. Give it until you have been off the steroids for 5-7 days and see if you dont start feeling better...youre going to be "off" all over for a few days..take it in stride, try not to let it get you down. Are you peeing your brains out yet? That usually happens to me by day 2...lol.
Hope you feel better soon. Avoid husbands during this time..they tend to NOT understand, and get tired of hearing us complain....do what you must to stay comfortable...and be happy- youre only on 3 days of steroids, right? Most of us, and usually with MS, you get prescribed a minimum of 5! By the time Im into my 5th day, Im ready to hurt someone! Mood swings, you know...
again Im LOL.
Hugs to you...and dont worry, this will pass.

For some people, no relief at all. My last round, I got NOTHING out of it and in fact felt worse afterwards. But, dont give up hope yet- for some people it takes the full 5 days to start feeling better. The steroids appear to be out of your system within a week of stopping them, whether or not they continue to do anything is beyond me...in my case, I would say no.
Good luck

Hi there, Yes i had 3 days of steriods last week Wed -Fri .. its now been 3 days off . My legs are still a bit weak, i'm still using a stick to balance , as i was bumbing into walls. still a little early to tell, although good news is that i'm not in as much pain as before. The very 1st thing to expect is a horriable mettalic taste in yr mouth so take something to munch on .. chocolate has never let me down lol.. they say it does take a while for streriods to kick in.although friend of mine felt better straight away, its just a reminder how we're all different.. Hope it works for you....

steroid blast (what a name:)) did pretty good--put away walker-- put away 3pt cane --using a cane for church and visiting-- getting around the house with no aids-- I have been able to do steps to the backyard
I am (milking) steps to the laundry room
I have a reunion Aug 18 hope by than I'll be using my walking stick
overall I'm pleased with progress and I KNOW that we never really go back to where we were before the attack but
I'm still hoping for a little more recovery

I have had steroids many times. From what I was told, the good affects usually don't show up for a couple days. For me it was the same day. I have had 3 day, 5 day and monthly infusions. I don't know if the monthly helped or not but I definitely got some relief from the "blasts" From what I know it just reduces the inflammation of lesions so your symptoms clear up sooner - it does not have a long term affect.
