I have been using Loestrin FE for 4 months now, and have noticed severe changes in my mood. I've always been an optimistic person, but recently I've been picking fights with people, especially my boyfriend, crying about nothing, and feeling negative about life in general. I looked at some other message boards and this side effect seems fairly common.
I was wondering if anyone else who had this problem, either with Loestrin or another birth control, had switched to a birth control that helped with this? It would be helpful too, as I'm looking for a new birth control, if people on the board would talk about their experiences with their preferred pill.
Thanks!

Try taking a B multi vitamin. BCP antibiotics, processed foods and sugars destroy B vitamins. Lack of B vitamins in general causes depression, dementia, anemia, muscle weakness, etc. Lacing B vitamins can cause a slue fo problems. To many to list.
I was on Loestrin FE 24, At first I was sorta moody then I learned about B vitamins from this board. I started taking them into my second month of Loestrin. By the end of the 3rd months I felt much better and no more moodiness. It takes time for the B vitamins to build up in our body so give it at least 2-3 months to work.

I took Micronor (progestin-only pill) for about 4 months and became severely depressed. It really screwed me up and I'm still recovering now a year later. If that pill is getting you down I suggest you get off it ASAP!!! Trust me, it will only get worse the longer you wait:(
Unfortunately I dont have any suggestions of another pill to try as I've avoided the pill altogether since my bad experience with Micronor, but definitely get off the Loestrin!
Best of luck!

I started taking Yaz because I was having severe PMDD with Ortho Tri Cyclen. I just finished my first month of Yaz and I felt even worse. The deppression and anger lasted for two weeks instead of one and were even more severe. I am going to try it for one more month and see how it goes and then it is going to be a trial of Seasonique. If that doesn't work then I'm off all of it alltogether because I am generally a really fun and optomistic girl.
