I just had one of my upper wisdom teeth removed friday. It is sunday and i still have a swollen cheek. Does anyone know how long swelling last? And the nurse told me that the first day you use ice, and then you put moist heat on other days. What does heat do for the swelling? Are there any drugs that take away the swelling?

It will probably last for a week or maybe even two. Nope no meds you can take, other then ibprouphin (spelling) ice it still, i would put ice on it for ten mins and then warm for ten mins keep switching. that should help.

The warmth helps the healing! Ibuprofin might help swelling because it is anti-inflammatory. Mine were swolen almost two weeks (but I had all four out at once!)

well i jsut had my wisdom teeth pull around march i had all 4 puled in 1 day and 2 of them were infected. it took me a good week to week in a half till i started feeling better. but put ice of it for 15 mins and take it 0f for 15 mins and repeat. dont eat hard foods stay with soft things like yogurt applesauce mashed potatoes stuff like that. and rinse your mouth with warm salty water(its gross but works)
