Having taken Yasmin with no problems for about 2 years, I just started Yaz. I will finish the last active pill of my first pack tomorrow, but I started my period yesterday. I am worried that I started it so early. I think I've read about some other people having this problem, but if you wouldn't mind sharing, I'd love to hear your experience. I'm wondering if I started earlier because Yaz is lower dosage than Yasmin? I don't know, but I freaked out because this has never happened with Yasmin and at first I thought I might be pregnant, but I know I was just overreacting. If you were previously on another birth control pill and switched to Yaz, did you find that it shortened your periods? Also, for those who took Yasmin and now take Yaz, have you noticed a difference between the two? Any comments or stories would be helpful and make me feel less worried! Thanks!!

I have been aking YAZ for three months now. I just finished my last active pill of my third pack yesterday. I went on it for the primary reason to lessen my menstrual flow. It has definitely proven to do so. My period is much lighter and shorter. I love this aspect of YAZ.
BUT I am deciding whether or not to stay on it for other concerns. My breasts have grown significantly larger and I am definitely up about 2-3 pounds.
I work very hard at maintaining my weight through diet and exercise. I have 2 children and through my strict regimen of diet and exercise I have remained at 118 at 5'7". Now I am struggling to stay below 120 and the only changes I have made recently was to go on YAZ.
I feel thicker in the middle and bloated. Not to mention my larger breast size makes me feel heavier. I'm pretty vain so I will probably go off the pill (after I consult with my doctor) and suffer again with GUSHING BLOOD rather than feel heavier!

I had been on Yasmin for a while then switched to I absolutely hated Yaz. It made me gain weight, it made me really depressed, I became incredibly moody, and my periods were actually longer. My doctor told me my periods would be shorter and it was pretty much the same as Yaz, but it definately wasn't. At least not for me and how my body reacted to it. I liked Yasmin because I knew every month the exact day my period was coming and the day it was going to end. On Yaz it came a different day every month and ended a different day. It also lasted for over a week on Yaz every time and I never had my period that long even before I was on birth control. After four months I couldn't take it anymore and switched back to Yasmin. But now I'm finding that my periods are messed up now and I spot often and I never used to. I think it's from switching and my body needs to get used to Yasmin again. I feel a lot better and a lot less bloated now that I'm off of Yaz. I've read that taking a B-Complex vitamin helps with the depression and moody attitudes while taking Yaz but I had never tried it. I hope your experience on Yaz is better than mine was!

That's weird. I was on Yasmin for about 6 months (the first month was HELL with nausea and mood swings...), then went on Yaz for lighter periods. I actually have been losing weight, pretty fast. I've only been on for a month. Pretty sure it's just due to the lower estrogen content, but I'm happy :)

It's been almost two months since I've been taking Yasmin. So far I haven't gain any weight. However, I am very concerned about taking the pill after reading lots of complaints. I do feel anxious and moody for now reason and it also makes me confused. Any advice???

Yasmin never made me gain weight. I actually lost weight but that was because of a healthy diet and exercise, but I didn't have any problem losing weight at all. I do have on and off depression and anxiety, but I had these BEFORE the pill and it didn't really affect it. These kind of things affect me from events in my life and NOT because of my hormones. I can see a definite difference in my friends who get moodiness from the pill. There are bad complaints about EVERY pill out there, and sometimes you get the mood problems, but taking a B Complex vitamin can help prevent it since the pill can deplete your vitamin B. Give that a try if you are worried about it and see if it helps.

Im on my third week of Yaz I have not gained or lost weight but it makes me crave salt and feel bloated during week 1. I am feeling bloated but I admit i have been eating chips and dip today. I like it better then the mini pill and ortho lo because im petite but have size d breasts and if they get bigger I wouldn't stay on it. Hopefully your body will just adjust. Sometimes one pill that is good for 1 person is not good for someone else. try for another month, then go back to yasmine.
