Hi everyone!
I'm new to this board and am as yet undiagnosed. I had lost about half (the top half) of the vision in my left eye a few weeks ago and was in significant pain. I went twice to the clinic, and the last time the ophthalmologist told me he believed it was optic neuritis because my eye was not responding normally to light stimulation, and he said that I have a 50/50 chance of having MS. He sent me for an MRI to test for optic neuritis, which I completed last week, and I'm waiting for the results. I also mentioned to the people who administered the MRI that we're also looking for lesions characteristic of MS.
While I've waited, I've done some research, and I believe I have had other symptoms that make the MS diagnosis more likely. I get migraines. I have had numbness in the meat of one hand that went away after a few months. I have had bipolar disorder but am free of medications and symptoms now.
I'm here to gather information and to offer/accept support.
Thanks for being here!

Hi Weasel
Let me be the first to welcome you to the board!
You will find lots of wonderful people here who understand what you are going through. Let us know how your tests go. Be sure to have a brief list of your sx's for the neuro and any questions you have for him. It will help your appts to go a little smoother. I sometimes forget things to ask or to tell, so i have to write down.
i'm undx'd at this time and in limbo land. wishing you well and best of luck with your results.
welcome again!
blessings,
michelle

Welcome, Weasel.
ON was what led me to a doctor and dx so I can relate to what you're going through. Personally, I was shocked to find myself going for an MRI when I thought I would be walking out of the eye doctor's with eyedrops!
Please keep us posted and good luck!

Much of the vision in my left eye has returned. It's so much better that it doesn't really affect my overall vision much. It's blurry, but the huge blind spot is gone. I can live with it if it doesn't further improve.:)
I wanted to ask about bowel incontinence. I know this is an unsavory subject, but I think I may have experienced that too, twice, several months ago. I thought I was just passing gas (yes, I know, women don't pass gas!), but I ended up with a relatively small amount of fecal leakage. Is that significant?
I was diagnosed with IBS a number of years ago, but the symptoms from that are long gone. I treated it as a yeast infection, and it took years to go away. Is that significant?
The problem is that so much of this stuff can be attributed to minor everyday occurrences. How can we know what is significant and what is not? It seems like I've had a lifetime of possible symptoms. If all of these symptoms were telling, I wonder how much earlier diagnoses could be made?
Again, sorry about the subject matter!
