View Full Version : Possibly pregnant?

I have been on BC for the last 6 years, on and off in the last year with different kinds. I've been steadily on since April, got one period in May, yet no more. After I missed my first period I didn't take any more pills as a precaution. Now I've missed my 2nd period in a row.
I've heard a lot about periods being irregular and elusive during the first few months after BC but I'm over 8 weeks late now. Although some pregnancy symptoms can be applied to me, there is nothing that couldn't also be attributed to other factors. (being tired, sore boobs, kind of queasy).
My boyfriend is understandably worried that something could have happened during the month of May (where I have missed pills at least on one weekend), but I just don't 'feel' pregnant. I am convinced that I would somehow intuitively feel if something had happened, and I don't feel that way at all.
Firstly, any input would be appreciated, and secondly, how long does it take to get regular periods back? Thanks!

What kind of BCP are you on? I was on Loestrin FE 24 they stopped my period for good.
While you are correct in saying that your signs may be attributed to other causes taking a pregnancy test would rule it out fast and help to ease your mind and be less stressful.
It may be your body still getting use to the hormones. I think it's best to do a test. If it comes out negative and you do not get your period this month then it's time to make an appointment with your OBGYN. Amenorrhea is a medical problem that becomes official after missing your period after 3 months. It's due to hormones off balance, lifestyle changes like major weight loss or gain, some medications etc.

Good Luck

Ortho Try cyclin (s/p?).
Any time I've ever been off the pill, my periods have been quite regular 28 day cycles, but I did have a huge amount of stress when I was due to get my period the first month, so I really wasn't surprised much when I was late, but at this point the stress has settled somewhat.
Thanks!

An Update:

Yes, I am indeed pregnant. Let this be a lesson to anyone who reads this with similar worries, my body was telling me exactly what was going on, but I wasn't listening to my body. Our bodies are amazing machines, we just need to be in tune with them.

I am almost 3 months now and very happy. Good luck to everyone on this board!!
