Hi Sorry bit this is my first post and not too sure its in the right place!!!I have had the Mirena fitted now for about 17 months with only minimal problems.Now we are thinking of trying for another baby and i wondered if anyone has had the IUD removed???Did it hurt??and are their any after effects???Also how long until it is fully out of the system???Sorry if im going over old ground!!!Thanks for any info!!!

i just had my Mirena removed a few months ago. i actually went to see my doctor about something else, but she figured out that the mirena was causing problems, so she removed it right then.

my insertion took an hour and a half, and was extremely painful for me. but the removal was quick - about 30 seconds, easy, and painless. very simple, not a problem at all.

it took about 2 months for my body to go back to "normal" but my body was not normal in the first place so you may be different.
